Dude, you're at the same point I am. I just started watching it two days ago. All the snippets I've seen of it on Youtube looked horrible, but now that I'm watching it... damn. I really didn't expect it to be so good.

Just finished the first season. Astounding, absolutely astounding. It's in my top three shows now. I'll post my review in the "Latest TV Show You Watched" thread soon enough.

So I go into Barnes and Noble today to pick up the novel, and first thing I see is a sign saying that George RR Martin is coming to Missoula this weekend. YES! Perfect timing, gonna go meet the guy and hopefully have at least a small conversation with him (and get my book signed of course).

What gets me about Season 2 is how good it is WITHOUT Sean Bean. Peter Dinklage took over the main role. I find myself following Arya's story more and more. I cannot wait for Theon to get his come uppins

There are just so many likeable characters you get to follow in this show. My personal favorites are Jon Snow, Arya Stark, and Tyrion Lannister.

How about the hate-able like-ables? Like Theon, Jamie, Cersi?

Finished season one on Friday. Absolutely excellent and already one of my favorite shows. Hopefully the future seasons continue this level of quality. The aesthetics of this series are simply beautiful to behold, from amazing landscapes to the well detailed costumes and architecture/interior designs. The score is excellent. Even the opening "scene" or whatever it would be called looks great. The first season does a wonderful job of mixing politics, romance, and social issues seamlessly. Really too bad about you-know-who being gone. A likable character.

And on another note, the home media release is superbly designed with rich designs and nice textures and surfacing. My one complaint is that each of the five discs (I'm speaking about the BRDs) has the same special features (or 99% of them) and anywhere from one to three episodes per disc. Wouldn't it have been better to have like three-ish episodes per disc and then a final disc or two with the special content? Nitpicking I know, just odd to watch one episode on a disc (hour long) and then pull it out and deal with the length load time to put in another disc with three hours of the show.

At any rate, psyched for season two!

^My coworker already revealed Joffrey's fate to me, and it's a satisfying one.

Just got back from the book signing. Only got a few seconds to speak with George but I told him that "I just finished the first season last week. Incredible." and he said thanks. :D

*Holy shit... the White Walkers. Was that their king??

*The Hound cuts people the skreeonk in half. Bronn is still the MAN.

*Sersei got bailed out by her daddy. Awwwww.. Bitch.

*Tyrion is the hero of the Battle of King's Landing. Too bad no one will ever know it. "On the other side of that gate are brave men. Let's go kill them!"

*That marriage is gonna have some negative consequences...

Well...Westoros is screwed.

Anyone wanna get a fast boat to Qarth? There's an opening for a new king.

This show gets better EVERY time I see it. I mean, it's epic. The magic is slow mellow, it matches well with the historical feel. I cannot wait for Season 3!

Finished Season Two a couple weeks ago. What a let-down! The final two episodes were good but the rest was poorly paced, dull, and almost felt like a medieval soap opera in the way its shot with 90% of the scenes consisting of two people in a room talking (and the fact that there are way too many plotlines that go on for too long and aren't resolved soon enough, or resolved at all, ala soap opera). The characters that enthralled me in the first season are starting to bore me. The cinemeatography has become bland, the dialogue and music cliched, and the sense of wonder is lacking. Moments that were supposed to be epic (and probably were epic in the book A Clash of Kings) just felt..off. First season was easily 10/10 for me, this is a generous 6/10..let's hope S3 turns things around.

Blasted through this recently. I just get hooked easily, I guess.

Anyway, I dig it. I think Jon Snow is my favorite character right now, but I also like Arya a lot, and Tyrion is always interesting, of course.

Yeah, I got through season 2. I was pretty much marathon-ing it, so I wasn't watching as carefully and critically as you, but I did start to get that same nagging sense of soap opera-ness from the 1 on 1 conversations all the time.

Mostly I enjoyed it, though.

So what did everyone think of the premiere?

I cant wait to see Dany and her dragons get down on Astrapor. I was glad Devos Seaworth didnt die but sad at how Tyrion keeps getting boned.

The show lacked Greyjoy action. I wanted more Yara action. I think she's cute. Also, lack of The Hound and Sanza...

Sansa was in a brief scene with Littlefinger, IIRC. The Hound (one of my favorites!) was sadly absent. I'm wondering if he'll be gone for a while.

Was a bit underwhelmed by Season 3's opener, but that was most likely due to my high expectations. A few things

*The f****** Lannisters piss me off. I can't stand Sersei and her father. Tyrion is BY FAR my favorite of that lot (and one of my favorite characters!). The fact that he got no recognition for essentially saving the city irks me.

*Ned Stark's bastard rules. He's gotten himself in quite the situation.

*The CGI is film quality. The short sequence with the dragons was astoundingly well done. I loved that they cook their fish before they eat them, lol.

That's it for now. Actually gonna rewatch it now, Methinks.
