Perhaps there could be a seperate reptile species that was created through convergent evolution and was going through a similiar evolutionary path as earth ponies. Just a thought.

I just hope that if Hasbro ever does something like this, they better not have those reptile ponies use magic or have wings. I was thinking of a more feral version of Ponyville with these creatures and no specific leader.
