I'm not a real brony but my friend's been trying to convert me and I've seen a fair number of episodes. It's an enjoyable show, although the sheer mass and size of it's following puzzles me. My favorite's probably Fluttershy, Rarity a close second, but all of the mane six are fairly likable. Favorite episode would have to be "Green is Not Your Color" and least "Feeling Pinkie Keen" (might have the names wrong, sorry!) It's made me laugh at times, and it's a good cheerer-upper over a crappy day. I only watch one episode at a time though, watching several in succession erodes for me, but that's true for anything these days.

My friend's actually begun a FiM fanfic centered on wars and such. I can't comment much but he's my friend so I'm linkin'.

In other (slightly off-topic) news, I gave Care Bears: Welcome To Care-A-Lot a shot this morning. Figured I'm obligated to at least try it, and if nothing else wanted to familiarize myself with the enemy. It earns a solid, respectable 'meh', I guess.

Pros:

- There was some decent comedy.

- Grumpy Bear is generally pretty awesome. And it probably helps that FIM doesn't have a similar character to compare him to.

Cons:

- Bad CGI. It's stiff, jerky, and nowhere near as expressive or fun to watch as FIM's animation. That's going to be a major handicap for the show, I think. FIM's subtle visual comedy is one of my favorite aspects of it, but this show doesn't look like it will be able to compete in that area.

- Harmony Bear just pisses me off. She reminds me why I hated prissy fashionista characters before Rarity came along.

- From what I saw in this episode, Equestria looks to be the superior fantasy world. Care-A-Lot has no background bears, for one thing. It felt very empty and artificial. Didn't care for the Dragon Bees or hairy cat-troll things, either.

- Humans. If the annoying girl from today's ep is any indication, their inclusion into the show will be a problem.

So an underwhelming first impression. I'll give it a few more episodes before I make up my mind either way about it, but I can now say with a fair degree of certainty that ponies are, as expected, superior to bears.
