Transmorphers (2007)
This is the Asylum's take on the first Bayformers movie. A few centuries after an invasion of alien robots all but wipes out humankind in 2014, the underground remains of human civilization are now threatened by robot forces closing in on their capital city. Their initial effort to secure an operational robot (part of a larger scheme that will allow them to shut down the entire robot army) fails, so they thaw out two radicals they'd previously cryogenically frozen as traitors, thinking them perfectly suited for the job. A small strike force is assembled and they head to the surface for the final confrontation with the mechanical invaders. This movie is pure schlock sci-fi, good for fans of such films and pretty much no one else. The acting is inconsistent, the CGI robots are passable at best (just don't watch the prequel if you thought these were bad), the semi-electronic music is decent, and the plot is cliched but executed better than some other films. Everyone is dressed in black leather and too much makeup, the kind of trashy future fashion you would expect from a film like this. The whole thing is very ersatz-Matrix, especially with how much the interiors look like Morpheus' ship. There's also a pretty cute married lesbian couple, if that's your thing (if only because the general was initially written as a guy and cast as a female at the last minute). It's decent, cheap, no-brains entertainment.
