Act of Valor (2012)
My first 2012 movie of the year, I went in wanting to like this movie what with the Marines and all. It was well shot and edited with some exciting angles, and the action sequences generally looked realistic (but then again I've never been in those situations so what do I know). Unfortunately, the story was pretty unexplored and the characters were forgettable. The bad acting I read about turned out to be reality but I am giving a pass on that since they were active duty members and not Jason Statham. It feels a little unfinished in a way, and at times it felt like it wanted to have more of a message than what it was conveying. Overall, it was a mediocre movie and nothing more, nothing less.

Dino Wolf : Not as satisfying as I thought it would be, but still pretty fun. Probably hit just about every horror cliche there is. Had the whole cast of standard characters, with a twist or two. I really liked the sheriff's odd obsession with schedule and order, was an interesting (and fatal) character trait. Was sad to see him go down. The werewolf/hybrid thingy suit was charmingly bad, and I liked his gorilla arms. They reminded me of Kong's in King Kong vs. Godzilla, with that weird bend and everything. Gore was cool, lots o' blood flying and rubbery intestine pulled out. The whole psychic bond thing was weird, I just though it was sparing people who were nice to it/cared for it. The idea of an attack dog/wolf/werewolf genetically attached to you was awesome though. That could be a movie on its own, with the attack dog going crazy and killing everyone around to 'protect' the person its bonded to.

I totally wanna make bad horror movies. That'd be awesome.

Snakes on a Train- One of Asylum's worst. Disgusting and dumb. Everything about this movie was pure awful, the characters, the plot, everything.

King of the Lost World- Better than Snakes on a Train, but still terrible. Horrible CGI and characters. The plot went no where. Who allows these movies to keep being made? Ah right, I spent money on them.

Not technically a movie, but I just watched National Geographic's The Savage Garden, starring Leslie Neilson. This was one of my favorite videos as a kid, and now that we have a new VCR, I was able to watch it again. I still love it. The show features all kinds of critters & creepy-crawlies, from shrews to fire ants to daddy long legs. I do notice now that some of the sequences are obviously faked, but that doesn't bother me in this case. It's not like this is a "serious" documentary anyway. :)

Scarface: Definitely one of my favorite movies now. I loved Al Pacino in this movie because I was so entrigued by his representation of Tony Montana. He was psychotic, violent, and a prick, but I still felt that I wanted to be in shoes. By watching this film, I've even started to see references of it everywhere, especially in rap. In the end, I can't wait for it to come back on TV again.

2010: The sequel to 2001: A Space Odyssey, 2010 seems more like a movie concerning Cold War tensions rather than aliens. In this film, the Russians and the U.S agreed to work together on an expedition to find out about the Discovery, but the harmonious click they found was killed by a possible WW3. the whole thing of them working together to flee from Jupiter when it became a new star was definitely a Cold War message concerning how the U.S and U.S.S.R could work together to bring peace. The highlight of the film was perhaps the return of HAL, and it seemed to get intense at the moment when no one knew whether or not HAL was going to go mental during their escape launch. It may not be as good as 2001, but I think that the sequel gave that movie justice.

I like 2010 as well. The novel is dead better, though.

I liked 2061 and 3001 better then 2001 and 2010.

Midnight Cowboy: ...huh.

I saw this with my family (not the best crowd to see it with in the world) and was actually pretty impressed by the unique camera work. Dustin Hoffman plays a sick little man, and the "Hey, I'm walking here!" comes from this movie (wasnt that brough up in Disney's Hercules when Phil nearly gets hit by a chariot? No...way...). I think what takes away from the movie is the plot. The main character goes to New York to become a male prostitute. Yep, there's your plot. Simple, kinda weird, but handled better than I would've thought. I'd give it three stars and a half for surprising me out of five.

Mutant (1984)- Fun B-movie, with elements of a zombie film and some nice scenes.

Dead Men Walk- Bit boring, not the most interesting plot I guess, but decent enough.

"War of the Gargantuas" with english subtitles

First time seeing this in it's entirity, pretty good monster film. I did think the ending with both creatures drowning in lava from a sea volcano was a bit random, but otherwise I enjoyed it.

Bride of the Gorilla- Could have been better, but it was interesting to see Ramond Burr in something other than Godzilla.

She-Demons- Interesting and goofy, but She-Demons had very little to do with the overall plot.

Superman II The Richard Donner Cut.

This movie is absolutely HORRIBLE. I do not see the circle jerk attitude this movie gets. It's full of holes, almost as bad at GvsKG91, the reditting removes any depth to Zod, Ursa and Non. Luthor is REALLY played down and the film DRAGS on. There's a reason it was editted and cut for theatrical release. The only upsides to this film are Brando and more Reeve. And the spin the Earth around ending that was the same as Superman the Movie is just as nonsensical as The Kiss. Superman Returns (2005) was a sequel to Superman II. The Richard Donner Cut removes Superman Returns all together

But the HOLES in the plot...

Superman destroys his Fortess. But the Fortess is a main element in Superman Returns

Superman reverses time so Lois forgets him but she has his baby in Superman Returns

Rock in the dinner in Superman II and the dinner owner REMEMBER what happens AFTER Superman reverses time.

Reversing time would NOT stop Zod, Ursa and Non from being freed because he'd have to stop the nuclear ICBM from exploding YEARS BEFORE! But DOESNT!

ARGH! The film is STUPID.

Personally: 2/5 just because it has more Brando and Reeve.
Critically: 0/5 it's a mess of a film.

I finished watching Simon Birch, it was a good movie, it was funny, it had a good plot, and some parts were really sad. I rate it a 4.2/5.

Sound of Horror- Really good, frightening, and very interesting. That sound the creature makes is really horrific. I want a modern day adaption.

Supergirl (1984) Director's Cut - still a bit long, but I enjoyed it more then before with the 30 minutes more of footage. Very silver age DC-ish. Helen Slater is a betty.

Man with the Screaming Brain- Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It actually had some fun moments, and it's suppose to be goofy.

No Country for Old Men-I seriously loved this film. I can see where some people can draw issue with it (especially the ending), but personally I thought it was a fantastic film throughout. Great performances, clever writing, well done suspense. It had it all. I recommend atleast giving it a watch. 10/10
