Isn't this film underperforming compared to CotT? IIRC CotT made a pretty fancy $500M but this is at approximately half that and it's been out for almost a month. Anyhow I still want to see it.

I see. So I take it that they're really not looking for more installments in the current series then ...

They've already hired a writer for a third one. It depends what they expected. They knew the last one got a hohum reception, and in 20/20 hindsight they opened against the Hunger Games. All things considered, it did better than I actually thought it would. I seriously expected the movie to ve slaughtered.

They could end up rebooting the series just like Fox is doing with the Fantastic Four seeing that the second F4 movie made less then the first movie. I won't be surprise if the same happens with Clash of the Titans.

Might not be a bad way to go, either.

Why? Why not just let it die? Why can't they let the timeless effects of Harryhausen stand as they are, embedded in our memories as childhood delights?

Oh yeah, the obvious reason: The Almighty Dollar.

That's my opinion too. Obviously I don't like them in the same way as the Godzilla movies or whatever, but I like both not because they're great movies critically*. Rather, they're just good entertainment.

*most Godzilla movies at least.

Also, the original CotT is EXTREMELY BORING. Only the stop-motion is memorable.

Actually I think that's the only reason anyone ever gives it a look anymore and is half the reason the new one is hated.

I agree. The actual plot is simple but the execution is just ....ghastly. I tried to sit through it twice and gawwww.

OFF TOPIC:
Has anyone ever notice that Kronos looks like "The Beast" from Infamous 2.

ON TOPIC:
The movie was flat out done badly, but it's still a okay movie. It's not good and its not that horrible.

I agree with you "on topic" bit. I can't answer your "off topic" ... but it's totally ON topic to talk about the titan in the movie. ;)

That's my point: The movie is all about the original special effects, the stop-motion that made Harryhausen famous. (And it showed off some cool monsters?) Why couldn't they just start with Wrath of the Titans? A late unnessacery sequel would've been better than two ridiculous movies that serve to pollute my mind with useless garbage. God, I can't believe I'm even typing this...Ultimately, what I'm trying to say is, why not make an entirely orginial movie? I guess Hollywood is absolutely deprived of ideas.

Renegade, indie filmmakers forever baby! Whoooo!

Wouldn't a random unnecessary sequel to a movie made 30+ years ago that polluted our minds with garbage get blasted just as much if not more anyway?

Ever heard of "The Rage: Carrie 2"?

Point to that and your point will be proven. Hell, I remember when that came out. God I'm old.

Hey watsy! You seem to be TK's #1 proponent of crap. Have you seen Cabin in the Woods yet?

LOL. That's my answer then. BTW Clash of the Titans was already a bastardized version of the Perseus myth. If they were going to do another one... why not just adapt the myth itself? The remake was the biggest pile of cgi engorged shit I've ever seen. There was no tension in the Medusa scene whatsoever (something Harryhausen managed to pull of with a little puppet). OMG! A black Pegasus??? How XXXTREEEEEME! Not to mention the fact that I can't remember any of the characters. This film seems like a relic of the 90s to me.
