2 Different interpretations of an Ancient Greek Myth, one is not more valid than the other, and as always opinions of character will differ from person to person

I should have clarified a bit more in my original post, the feeling of bastardization comes more from others (hardcore fans of the original film), not so much myself. I liked the original growing up. I saw the new film once, and was indifferent (didn't love it, didn't hate it), but your point above proves mine. Because there was so little in common with the 1981 film, why give it the exact same title?

--In the near future, if a major studio with a blockbuster-budget, pitched a "Sindbad" movie with great casting & story were made, I think it would do great, just as long as it is NOT called "The 7th Voyage of Sindbad" because well... It's already been done. With Myths, there's really no need to use the exact same title twice.
There has never been a "Scientifically Accurate" Dinosaur portrayed on any Television Show, Movie, or Documentary. Only what the human imagination can conceive, and I'm ok with that.

Because it was a Bastartdization of a beloved classic from 1981. If they had just taken the myth of Perseus and just titled the film another name, most of the hate would not exist. Same with GODZILLA (1998), If from the beginning, the film name/creature was never known as Godzilla, it would be viewed as an outlandish, but generally fun monster film. Since this sequel is essentially something "new" it will probably not generate nearly a much negativity as the first film did. Funny how a simple name can generate so much emotional response.

If only they had. But, either way, I found it highly enjoyable, and actually consider it better than the '81 version. The old one was kinda dull. I don't know, that's just me.

Speaking of creatures, what monsters are gonna be in this anyway? I saw a cyclops in the trailer, and I'm assuming that the two headed monster is supposed to be the two headed dog from the original Clash of the Titans. I also think the big fire guy is Kronus.

But what are the rest of the guys supposed to be?

I believe the minotaur is in it as well. I didn't rememeber kronos being a lava monster, especially in the main greek mythology.

The two headed beastie is actually a Chimera.

If they ever bring a multi-headed canid into the franchise (should there be anymore films), I'd rather they go with the actual Cerberus instead of the butcher-job that was Dioskilos.

Anyone going to see this movie? From what I've read from the reviews that this movie is better then the first but it's still not a good movie. One of my friend told me that if you like mindless action with no good story then the movie is perfect for you.

I'm gonna see it. I was hoping to see it tomorrow or Saturday but it looks like that's pushed back a week. As with the first Clash of the Titans, I'm just looking for an enjoyable movie, not something that's trying to be this wonderful, iconic films of the 2010s or whatever. It's the same with a Godzilla movie. None of us are looking for a critically "good" movie, sans the original, but something entertaining.

I saw it Saturday. It was quite good. Sure, it wont win any awards but if you love the actors and characters, you'll dig it.

I didn't see the first one as it looked like a joke, and it seems the trailers show everything on TV for free. Why would I go see it?

I'm hoping to see this soon. All I expect is a mindless action film featuring monsters, and that's probably what I'll get.

Saw it weeks ago. As someone who thought the Clash remake was fun, my reaction was meh.

This film was actually weaker then ''Clash of the Titans'' in it's over-all tone, i thought. Didn't really care much for Hades an Zues teaming up either... An i actually enjoyed Clash of the Titans for the most part except the portrayal of Medusa an lack of the Kraken.

Isn't this film underperforming compared to CotT? IIRC CotT made a pretty fancy $500M but this is at approximately half that and it's been out for almost a month. Anyhow I still want to see it.

I see. So I take it that they're really not looking for more installments in the current series then ...

They've already hired a writer for a third one. It depends what they expected. They knew the last one got a hohum reception, and in 20/20 hindsight they opened against the Hunger Games. All things considered, it did better than I actually thought it would. I seriously expected the movie to ve slaughtered.

They could end up rebooting the series just like Fox is doing with the Fantastic Four seeing that the second F4 movie made less then the first movie. I won't be surprise if the same happens with Clash of the Titans.
