#1: "Magnetic Monster" ANTLAR
When I started watching the original Ultraman, I was largely unimpressed with the monsters in the first several episodes; they looked sloppy, rushed, and perhaps uninspired. I was in for a surprise with episode 7. When Antlar reared his massive head for the first time, I thought, "Hey, that monster is COOL!"
Although I've come to appreciate most of the early Ultra kaiju more, Antlar will always hold a spot above all the rest. The fact that he shrugged off Ultraman's Specium Ray probably helped.
But power isn't everything...

#2: "Comet Monster" DORAKO

I don't know what it is about Dorako I love so much; he's certainly not a powerful monster, and he doesn't have much in terms of character. Something about his design just clicks with me. Maybe it's also the fact that episode 25 had a rather ominous tone to it, and that gets carried on to Dorako somewhat (he seems pretty ominous in Ultraman Powered too, from what I've seen). It is what it is, I guess, and I say Dorako is awesome. 8-)

#3: "Ancient Monster" GOMORA
Come on, how can you not like Gomora? He has a unique yet simple design, he's pretty powerful, and he has a pretty good back story - not unlike many of Toho's classic saurian kaiju. Granted, Gomora's lacking in the character department, but that's not uncommon among giant monsters.

#4: "Space Dinosaur" ZETTON
The first time I saw Zetton (via Ultra Galaxy video clips), I actually didn't like him; I was probably disappointed because I knew this was the kaiju that killed the original Ultraman, and I was probably expecting some super saurian monster (or something like that). What I actually saw, though, was this totally weird humanoid thing. This feeling would not last, however. I soon came to appreciate his very unique design, his eerie mechanical voice, and his impressive arsenal. Ironically, when I finally saw his original battle with Ultraman, I was a bit disappointed; it was rather short. Still, he's a great monster.
I don't get his subtitle, though: "space dinosaur"? What??

Telesdon, Red King, Seabozu, Zanbolar and Skydon are close behind in my favorites.
EDIT: Oops! I forgot Jamila and Gubira!

Of course, I can't forget the aliens....But I'll save that for another time.

Baltan - He's Ultraman's arch-enemy.
Zarab - He's my favourite Ultraman alien bad guy.
Jamila - He's in my favourite episode.
Zetton - He's Ultraman's toughest enemy.

So anyone like Alien Mephilas? I thought he was pretty awesome, a lot cooler than Baltan. He really should have came back in the original show.

I was honestly expecting Mephilas to get a second episode. It surprised me when he didn't.
Interesting that he didn't return until Mebuis (40+ years later).

Alien Mephilas is actually one of my favorites from the original series. Mephilas was in Redman and an episode of Ultraman Taro as well, but both appearances were pretty lackluster. The Mebius episode is pretty cool, but I always thought there should be a movie of some sort where Mephilas returns to make good on the threat he gave at the end of his appearance in the original series. Ultraman and Mephilas still have a battle to finish ;) . Mephilas along with Chaos Darkness are the main antagonists in the PS2 game Ultraman Fighting Evolution:Rebirth.
There has never been a "Scientifically Accurate" Dinosaur portrayed on any Television Show, Movie, or Documentary. Only what the human imagination can conceive, and I'm ok with that.

If Mephilas in Mebius was the same one that took on Ultraman in the first series, WTF was he doing working for Empera and 'fighting over the human heart' anyway?

Well my Ultra MAX DVD came. The quality is great and the subtitles could be better, but hey, I'm just glad I get to watch the series. :huge: Saw the first episode, liking the fun tone and monsters.

It looks like there might be an Ultraman Zero series or another movie in the works. Look at these images:

There's already gonna be action figures for these things (soft vinyls too). Apparently we're gonna hear more info about this on Ultraman Retsuden sometime in July. Personally, I'm betting that this is gonna be for some upcoming video game. I like the Luna Miracle mode, but not Strong Corona mode. I think its the gold on Strong Corona that bothers me.

So those are from the new movie, or does Zero gain those forms permanently like Gaia and his Supreme form?

Can Zero just...kinda, sorta...go away for a while? Any chance we can finally start fresh?

This. I've kind of overlooked him, too. Especially when they do (again!) this sort of lame recolor-character-recombination b*shit ~

However, regarding lame redesigns (and otherwise just for the notes,) the annual BANDAI/Tsuburaya Ultra Monster redesign contest this year features... Windum!!! Better said, his left arm (no joke!). Remember Fire Windum from Mebius? He had a red cannon arm. The redesign contest is about a new arm enhancement for him. I bet its gonna be something lame like a hook- or spear-hand ultimately. Actually I really hoped a more iconic characters would get the treatment - like Gomora, Eleking, Red King or Tyrant - to follow the likes of Ace Killer, Vakishim, Baltan and Zetton. Well, it's BANDAI after all ~

So, there's an Ultraman manga called Another Genesis, which is an alternate retelling of the Ultraman origin and Belial's attack on the home planet. Apparently there's gonna be figures of some of the characters:

Ultraseven: http://www.flickr.com/photos/39869920@N ... otostream/

Ultraman Belial: http://www.flickr.com/photos/39869920@N ... otostream/

I want those figures dammit.

A 'Not sure if gusta' image would really fit here.
They're neat looking, but not really Ultraman...

It's referring to Red King and Eleking.

I don't really understand it either.
