Coupla thoughts upon seeing the vid.

-Finally, an Ultra villain with realistic means to conquer the universe. I really like how galactic they make Belial's assault seem.

-ALOT of robot-anime/Kamen rider/Power Rangers wannabes here.

-YAY MORE HYPER OVERPOWERED CHARACTERS YAY. Like Zero wasn't overowered enogh already. Now he has upgrades and friends even more powerful than him!

-And they need to decide on a fixed set of powers for Zero rather than amke him use a new one every time. Seriously, its liked he's done every single superpowered attack of his like only once, save for the eye sluggers, despite all of them serving the same purpose.

-Belial's right hand man looks to be badass.

-Belial looks to be badass. To be fair though, he should have been this powerful (in comparison to Zero) in Legends. But still, he's damn cool.

-Zero's partners look incredibly lame.

-The CGI is very very good. An improvement over even Legends.

- The alternate dimension looks sweet.

-No new impressive kaiju suits? Shame. Hope the next few Ultra mvoies will feature the good ole' rubber suit. Also wished some of the design had that old school charm.

None of the designs in this movie look out of the ordinary for Tsuburaya work so I find it really bizarre that people keep saying this time and time again. Besides, it's all the same genre so, yeah, of course they're going to share design similarities with other franchises.

I think the new enemies we get in this film are plenty enough but there's also Arc Belial.

Yeah, I know...but its just a more or less Kamen-riderish vibe I get from all his allies. They are after all, another type of masked hero whoch isn't an Ultra, so I guess such a a vibe was inevitable.

You haven't watched much Ultraman, have you?

The specium ray didn't become iconic becuase Ultraman used it once in the first episode, then didn't use it ever again, instead pulling a off a new special finisher attack every week. Each Ultra has a few other special abilities (Buckle Beam, Merbiu's Brave Sword beam), but they mostly have one or two main finishers which they use 80% of the time, the Ultra slash and Specium Ray with the first, Mebium blade and beam with Mebius etc. The only attack Zero has ever repeated were his eye sluggers, and he still manages to use it to make a different attack almost every single time.

From the lighting I initially thought they were CGI.

Given that they're tributes to other TPC giant heroes, I think that was more the vibe they were going for.

He's also used his Wide Zero Shot in the Gaiden (and, I'm assuming, in the movie - I don't see why he wouldn't) and at the end of the trailer he can be seen using the funky chest beam that he initially defeated Belial with towards the end of Legends. Sure, he varies his fighting style a lot but he's in 2, going on three movies plus the gaiden - not an entire 50-episode series. It's only natural that they play with his powers a lot.

No, I'd actually have to strongly disagree on that point as I really like all of them.

I'm sure they were rendered in CGI at points but all the enemies in the film are portray as rubber suits on the whole.

*watches trailer*

MUSIC BY KENJI KAWAI?! SOLD! :D I just need to watch Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legends The Movie first. And before that, I gotta watch Ultra Galaxy: Mega Monster Battle NEO. And before that, I gotta watch Ultra Galaxy: Mega Monster Battle. *sighs*

Anyway, just watched Great Decisive Battle! The Super 8 Ultra Brothers (I refuse to call it that stupid Engrish name). I truly enjoyed it, it was like 100 minutes of Ultra fan-service. Well-done fan-service at that. It also helped that the actors who play the Ultra Brothers still have such a clear love for the franchise. It made me wanna watch the rest of Ultraman Tiga and start watching Ultraman Dyna and Ultraman Gaia. This movie was definitely an improvement over Ultraman Mebius and the Ultra Brothers.

In the memory of Lamango, dis shit has been bumped!

I really want to see the movies, but unless I do it the naughty naughty way I'll have to wait a long time before I see them and this is rather unfortunate espcially with the trailer that was posted here. It's a real shame as I want to see Ultraman Zero the movie, Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy, and Superior Ultraman 8 Brothers.

MMB (subbed) is on dailymotion and I think Superior Ultraman 8 Brothers is on youtube as well. Mind you, the subs for them aren't the greatest but I guess thats better than nothing.

TEH BUMP!

So I just watched Ultra Galaxy the movie again and decided to have some fun and count all the kaiju/aliens that get killed in the movie.

In this movie we have a HUGE f'n roster that is GIGANTIC. Even worse is the fact that Belial's army has 100 kaiju, but we only see 42 get destroyed. Below is a list of the monsters/aliens killed not taking place in the final battle.

Bemular, Zarab, Zaragas, Dorako, Bemstar, Salamandora, Shapuray, Black King, Zettonian, Narse.

The final battle has... Get ready...

Mukadendar, Frogros, Gromite, Murochi, Angross, Eleking, Banpira, Gan Q, Metron, Magura, Antlar, Babalou, Magma, Knuckle, Dada, Lunatyx, Jashrin, Nova, Baltan, Gomess, Silvagon, Goldras, Hoe, Arigera, Birdon, Red King, Galberos, Earthtron, King Pandon, Velokron, Sadora, Hipporito, Telesdon, Tempeler, Bakushima, Gudon, Valkie, Herculean Golza, Gutz, King Joe Black, Zetton, Tyrant

52 kaiju get killed in this movie. If you're a UM buff like myself, you should also quickly realize that against even a handful of the kaiju in Belial's army, Ultraman, Mebius, Ultraseven, and Gomora would be screwed. Zetton, Bakushima, Galberos, King Joe Black, Tyrant, Silvagon, Goldras, Tempeler, Birdon... they wiped the floor with numerous UMs and get one-shoted here. Kinda' sad, but oh well.

There were a few monsters in Belial's army that weren't shown being killed. Twin Tail comes to mind first.

Was a blast doing this.

Oh, I LOVE the movie. It's everything G:FW tried to be and failed (still love G:FW though, but this is just soooo much better).

I've also just watched the recent Ultraman Zero: Revenge of Belial movie. If you've ever wondered what a space-based anime, complete with seizure-enducing amounts of lasers and explosions, would look like in movie form, UZ:TROB is it. My dad walked into my room as I was watching and HAD to sit and watch 15-minutes worth of the epic battle at end.

The sheer insanity of the battles in UZ:TROB... I have never seen in live action before. It litterally blows ANY I have ever seen from Hollywood away, including the Star Wars prequel, new Star Trek, Transformers, GI Joe, etc.

Sadly, the version I watched lack subs, which sucked. I was able to keep up with everything up to...

SPOILERS!!!!

Ultraman Noa is discovered in stone form. Seriously, Ultraman f'n Noa, from Nexus! Why? How? UGL refused to even really acklowedge the Nexus series beyond throwing some kaiju in for canon fodder. Now Noa is a major plot device and randomly appears at the end in a "LOL! HAX!" scene. WTF!?

END SPOILERS.

Now if someone could direct me to a version with subs...

I'm sad that the new Ultra series is probably going to be only a clip show :/ Personally, I'd rather they continue on with the Ultra Galaxy story, maybe with more emphasis on the recent monsters.

At least they're re-releasing Ultra Q on blu-ray; colorised at that! Hopefully they'll throw in some subtitles.

So yeah, just got done watching the UZ movie. Wasn't good. UGL was better, and I'm not even particularly fond of that. The UZ movie tried way too hard to be a live-action anime, and failed hard because everything it tried to do had been done much better multiple times before... in anime. The fact that I just dislike Ultraman Zero and Belial in general doesn't help the situation either.

Well I just watched it. I don't know what anime IR is talking about since the only one that has any resemblance in this movie is the original Macross. I'd say Jean Bot would resemble a Grungust, but it's from a series of video games. Anyway, massive jabbering aside this movie was pretty freaking awesome. 8-) Real shame Glenfire didn't get enough screen time though.

-facepalm-

Anywho, I personally enjoyed the movie, but it had too much going on and quite frankly, its so far disconnected from what Ultraman used to be, and that kinda bothers me. As for characters:

-Legioniods were blah. Bland and boring color scheme, nothing really cool about them.
-Iaron was just...what the hell? He did bascially nothing of note, and just wasnt interesting.
-Darkgone, however, won me over with his voice and personality. That malicious laugh and his array of powers warrant a thumbs up from me.
-Kaiser Belial was cool, but his fight with Zero felt kinda short. I was expecting an epic rematch, but Belial just kinda runs off and tranforms a little too early.
-Arch Belial was made of win.

-Mirror Knight was eh. He didnt really do it for me.
-Jumbot/Jeanbot was kinda cool, but he loses coolness points for being controlled by Kenny.
-Glenfire seriously suprised me. I thought he'd be just another "im a hero, i fight for justice" kind of deal. Imagine my surprise when I see his fight with Zero. He's just goofy enough to be likable, but manages to avoid self-parody.
-Ultraman Zero has grown on me. But his "ZOMG ITS LIKE DRAGONBALL Z" deal kinda annoys me, because its like Tsuburaya is trying to abandon the Ultras of old with a "new age, hype, young ultra." I mean, it was painful seeing Seven tagteam with Zero in the opening. It almost felt like Zero was humoring him by not killing the Darkclops on his own.
-Ultimate Armor Zero was pointless. And his "bow and arrow" attack proves my point about the series becoming like DBZ.

But one thing I absolutely loved about the movie was the music. HOLY SHIT DUDE, the music is awesome! I must've listened to each of my fav songs on my ipod like 200 times by now, lol. Zero's theme is made of win.

These were Belial's two "generals" or whatever, right? If Iaron was the one with the tiny face in the middle of his body and Darkgone was the one with the "ruffled clown collar" and the bigass triple-pronged claws, then I fully agree.
