Here's an idea. AH gets banned and we all get on topic for good.

Anyway I love the early Ultra shows ('60s and '70s at least). A big part of it is the rubber suit action, which I enjoy more as the monster designs get more and more outlandish. I wish it was easier to collect all of these shows.

Than it was either trolling or spam.

Any who, watching ep 64 of Cosmos right now and I'm going to see the last episode later. Currently this moon battle is annoying me since for whatever reason they thought it was a smart idea to give CUC and Cosmos 1 minute of fighting and 4 minutes of human jibbering at a time. Come on!

Edit: One episode left. Until I see it this much I'm gonna say: Chaos Darkness was disappointing, I mean come on, he RAN AWAY DURING BATTLE!

So yeah, Ultraman. Does anyone know how the Mill Creek Ultraman complete series DVD compares to the BCI version?

I think MG mentioned something like that two pages back.

Well, I'm done with Cosmos, kind of a weak ending but not bad. Kind of expected more from Chaos Darkness, his final battle was more or less run of the mill.

Now that I've completed all the major series I can finally rank 'em. It should be noted that I haven't seen Jonias or Heisei Ultraseven and I have no interest in Ultra Fight.

Dyna
Gaia
Tiga
Mebius
Nexus
Ultra Galaxy Monster Battle: Never Ending Odyssey
Ultra Galaxy Monster Battle
Powered
Jack
80
Ultraman
Max
Neos
Leo
Ace
Cosmos
Taro
Seven
Great
USA
Seven X
Ultra Q
Nice

And now for the gaidens and movies, haven't seen the second half of Ultra Galaxy Legends Gaiden or the Ultraman Zero movie:

Ultra Galaxy Legends: The Movie
Ultraman Cosmos vs. Justice: the Final Battle
Ultraman Cosmos: First Contact
Ultraman The Next
The Six Ultra Brothers vs. The Monster Army
Ultraman Tiga and Dyna: Warriors of The Starlight
Ultraman Cosmos 2: The Blue Planet
Ultraman Mebius Gaiden: Armor of Darkness
Ultraman Mebius Gaiden: Ghost Reverse
Ultraman Mebius and The Ultra Brothers
Ultraman Tiga: The Final Odyssey
Ultraman Gaia Gaiden: Gaia Again
Ultraman Tiga, Dyna, and Gaia: Battle in Hyper Space
Ultraman Hikari Saga
Ultraman Dyna Hanejiro's Return
Great Decisive Battle! The Super Eight Ultra Brothers
Ultraman Tiga Gaiden: Revival of The Ancient Giant
Ultraman vs. Kamen Rider
Ultraman Story
Zoffy: Ultra Warriors vs. The Giant Monster Army

Shame AH puts so many of the classic series so low on his list. Oh well.

How do you watch these anyway, AH?

Why's Ultra Q so low?

I didn't hate the series, but it really didn't have much going for it. Sure, some episodes are really good and a handful I like more than the average Ultraman episode. It's definitely one of those series that are hard to figure out without subtitles in your native language. However, most of the episodes simply don't have MUCH, it's usually filler with some sort of anticlimactic end. Ultraseven X isn't that much different, the only real difference is that the psychological portions have better execution to them.
How do you watch these anyway, AH?

With Ultraman series? Usually the kaiju, the fighting, and sometimes the actual feel itself. The reason some series are lower than others is usually because there isn't much else to them. Some series build up to a climactic end, some don't, some have decent final fights and some don't, some finish up their series in a good way and some don't, in other words what makes one series better than another usually is determined by how much you build up throughout the series up until the end and how well you execute said finally.

The movies and gaidens are shorter, so naturally I do the same thing to lesser extents. It's usually how fun and entertaining it is and how much effort is put into making them. The only exception to this rule is The Six Ultra Brothers vs. The Monster Army, it is a very rare and different Ultra film than all the others and tried to be different, so I looked at it as just a regular kaiju film. It's actually ridiculously entertaining although I will admit it is very cheap looking; that isn't to say it the Thailand backgrounds don't look appealing, they do seem pretty lush and the scenery as a whole is unique. It's not Japan or anywhere else that is "common" for kaiju to fight, it's unique, it's full of mystery, it's big, it's a frontier of it's own (you get the idea); it has a very exotic and rare appeal.

No I meant what do you use to watch these shows? I'd love to be able to sit back and relax with all these Ultra shows for the first time. But I refuse to watch them on my laptop and I'd rather watch them on TV. No dice on that, I'm assuming?

^Tyler, don't start, please. Just don't.

And I'm going to repost what I said back in page 4 on how to find these eps:

1. Go to Video Google.
2. Put the following in the search engine: 奥特曼. It's Chinese for Ultraman.
3. Next to it put the year the series you want to see debuted in with the episode number right after it (single digits must have a zero in front of them).

For some reason I can't find the Heisei Ultraseven series (the two "movies" can be found though) and Q Dark Fantasy. The first Zearth movie can be found, but it's blocked outside of China. It should be noted that the "infamous" episode 12 of Ultraseven's a bit tricky to find.

So...like...if I wanted to see, say, episode 31 of Ultraseven I'd type 奥特曼6731? 奥特曼196731? Help me out here because it didn't work.

Besides, I'd rather not watch these stuff on my laptop. It's a poor way to view something.

奥特曼196731

That's how you do it, but you need to space the year and episode number.
