Raimi's idea for Spidey 4 was a little sketchy. Black Cat as Vulture's sidekick? Come on...

Its actually Marc Webb directing the movie. Although that is slightly humorous, sadly Sony may have hired him for that reason alone. The guy has only made one film and it was 500 days of Summer.

I'm finding this hard to believe. It seems odd that Webb would go after two actors from Inglorious Basterds to play the same roll...

That article is a little confusing it says that he's not in the role but when the role is cased it will be a big actor, does that mean we are getting Lizard as the villian or that the reboot's villian is going to be a big name actor?

the only thing thats been debunked is that Christoph Watlz is playing the viallain. We havent heard anything regarding the Lizard's involvement in the movie. In other words, we have gone back to knowing nothing.

I'm pretty sure Lizard in the movie might look like this since this movie is based off of Ultimate SM comics then the 616 comics.

Venom was horrbile because rami didn't lke him and black cat would have been vultress in spiderman 4 I all for the reboot. plus peter needs to have black suit halfway into one movie and lose it in the next to set up venom right.

Words cannot describe how badly I want this film to bomb or underperform. I think it'd be one of the most deserving flick-offs ever, and especially deserving considering they virtually flicked off Raimi.

If the Lizard is the villian I'd expect him to be something different looking maybe a hybrid of the 616 and Ultimate but he'd most likely have a new appearance unlike anything we've seen before.

Why? I think this might a fresh start for Spider-Man, and I hope it might be better then SM3. Yeah SM3 had flaws, but it was still a pretty good movie. They can still pull a 4th sequel without Sam Raimi.

Raimi pretty much said skreeonk it, Toby quit(Last I heard).

Raimi screwed Venom up badly along, Im glad to see him gone. Fresh ideas and new villians that need to be in a Spidey film.

People need to lay off Raimi when it comes to Spidey 3. He wanted Vulture dammit. Marvel (or whoever the hell) made him stick in Venom instead. With that it messed up the movie he originally had in mind. We have no idea how that would've turned out but I'm sure it would've been better than dancing emo Peter. But his Spidey 4 idea was funky though...

Spider-Man's my favourite Mavel hero so I hope this film turns out well. Lizard FTW.

Sorry to anyone who are Vulture fans but Vulture wouldnt have been as good a character as venom should have been. Plus Raimi could have atleast tried with Venom but didnt, he stated before that he didnt like him so of course he wasnt goes to do shit for him and gave him a little role and thats why I wont lay off of him about it.

Vulture would have just flew around until Peter shot him in the eyes with web and Vulture would run into a building or somthing like that.

SM3 would have been great if they made the movie longer since they could have been have more time on the characters.

I'm sorry, but I entirely believe SM3 was a f*ck-up on Sony's part and not Raimi's. I will admit Raimi isn't totally blameless, but it's unfair to say the entire mess was HIS fault alone.

For starters, Sony gave SM3 WAY too high of a budget and this would probably intimidate a director famous for making lower-budgeted fare. He worked fine with the first two films, but the third one had the largest budget for an American made film up to that point (I'm unsure if Avatar passed it or not). That's a huge difference. Second, in almost a flashback to WB's treatment of Tim Burton after Batman Returns, Sony, for some ungodly reason, had no faith in Raimi and breathed down his neck to make sure he made a film that would be as commercial as possible instead of letting him do his own shtick. In the case of Burton, he ended up leaving the director's chair entirely and stepped into a producing role for Batman Forever, something I'm not sure if Raimi was in a secure enough position to do. This was why Venom was thrown in, because he is a very marketable (*coughandheavilyoverratedcough*) character to fans of the franchise. Yes, Raimi could've handled it MUCH better, but the film was bloated enough without Venom needing to make an entrance. If anything, most of the blame should be put on Sam's brother Ivan for writing such a bloated script in the first place.

So, while Sam Raimi could've done more, he probably just didn't have the room to do so. He had a strict release date to abide by and a studio that wouldn't let him do what made the first two work so successfully. I'm glad Raimi stepped out of SM4, but I'm disgusted in the reasons leading up to his departure. Sounded like Sony was getting ready for another royal screw-job and Raimi, this time around, knew better than to be f*cked over again.

So, I have no intention of seeing a Spider-Man intended for the Twilight crowd made solely for the boosted 3D ticket prices. Something tells me that this film will be as much of a misfire as SM3 was.
