Man of Steel (2013)

I know we have a thread for the Superman movies, but I feel like the upcoming Superman movie should have its own topic instead. I feel like that this project is in good hands so far, and I can't wait how this project is going to turn out.

No.... Just no. It was intended to cover all the films and condense them all into one thread so the forum is spammed with many topics relating to them. This thread is unneeded as my thread is to cover all your superman film needs.

That's because you made the topic before I made the batman one. Theres a difference and hence we don't need this topic.

I honestly don't care. I hate Superman. I've never been so bored by a series of comics as when I tried to read the Superman comics. Even the movies bore me to death. If they can "wow" me with this one, fine. But I'm not excited for it.

Who gives a skreeonk?

Its an internet forum, dude.

Personally, there is not ONE live action Superman film that I have ever enjoyed... doubt this'll be any different.. but who knows? Like its been said before, seems as though the film is in capable hands.

Superman will be released Q4 2012 around X-Mass time. So it will be The Avengers, Batman, Spider-Man, Godzilla, and Men in Black fighting at the box office in Summer 2012.

If you still believe Godzilla will make the 2012 release, Summer is pretty much packed to the max an i ''personally'' don't see them shoving Godzilla in a already over-crowded summer. Now there announcing a lot of Winter movies, So if Godzilla doesn't get a director or release date soon i expect a 2013 release for sure.

Anyways, As for Superman... This could go either way but i was never huge on Superman so if it has great reviews it might be the only way i see it.

Zack said that this movie is going to be very different from the past five movies, and he also said that General Zod will not be the main villain. I hope Brainiac, or maybe a better version of Bizarro would be cool as well.

Superman's problem is since he's the flashy hero, he doesn't get flashy villains. Part of why Spiderman and Batman are so appealing is their villains - the Joker, TwoFace, etc. are readily identifiable. Lex Luther can be an amazing villain, but he's not visually interesting. He's a bald guy.

Yeah. That, and in the previous movie, Luther kicked a grounded Superman's ass. It doesn't help him in my eyes.

Supes has plenty of flashy villains. Darkseid may not be an off-the-wall villain like Two-Face or Joker, but he's charismatic, evil to the core, AND visually interesting.

There are other villains, too, but my understanding is that they're not going to USE those interesting villains...

And thats the problem with the producers of these films. Superman and his rogues gallery have a huge amount of potential to create a viable and compelling action/sci-fi film. While the characters aren't nearly as good as Batman or Spider-Man's collection of villains, they can be made to be interesting and compelling, as the Superman animated series by the Timm/Dini team illustrated. And contrary to popular belief, there's plenty of villains and characters that can give Supes a run for his money and force him to be creative and use his brain in order to combat. If the directors, producers, and screenwriters actually used their imaginations and brains, they'd do something with these characters, instead of going to the well of General Zod or Lex Luthor or some random assortment of Kryptonian characters.

I honestly cannot say Im looking forward to this film.

While I do enjoyed Superman Returns, Superman IMHO is just NOT 21st century movie material. His comics also IMHO only provide a web to BETTER comics and BETTER characters - LoSH, Mon-El, Superboy, Supergirl.

The original 2 films (NOT THE DONNER CUT) and Superman Returns are IMHO (Im saying this alot to avoid fanboy butthurt) just right - unless they reboot the entire series.

The Superman origin is older then my father, when they really started fleshing out Supes' origin in the 1980s - it was 25 years of AMAZING but they havent put any of that in the 1978 - 200? film series, so it'll just feel weird. Parts of Superman Returns felt weird to me. It started with Superman and in Superman Returns - they have cell phones. Im sorry, the first movie made a BIG deal about REAL timeline dates and then BOOM! Cell phones. Im sorry, Superman 2 and Superman Returns are NOT that far apart I mean CMON!!!!

So no - I wont be super hot (har har pun) to see this.

This could just be my own ignorance of Superman's franchise, but I thought Superman Returns was in the continuity of Smallville and not the previous superman movies. Like I said, it could just be my own ignorance, I don't like Superman so I wouldn't know that much.

Superman Returns is a direct sequal to Superman II, NOT Smallville. It writes out Superman III and Superman IV The Quest For Peace.

It can be argue that Supergirl is also canon with Superman, Superman II and Superman Returns.

Perhaps Superman: Earth One will help this film's progress.
