"We should make something that shows animated movies aren't just for kids"
"Yeah, something with a complex plot, diverse character development, darker themes"
"Actually I was thinking we could just make talking food swear too much and pass it off as being comedy"
"Gold"

I suppose the ironic part is that this movie might not bomb if it was a family film. It reminds me of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, but from the food's view...and swearing.

Seth Rogan has made some good/funny movies.

Pineapple Express, Superbad, The Night Before, and 50/50 come to mind.

Would rather have an adult animated film that takes itself serious and tackles serious issues as topics, not an immature one that just happens to be R.

I've read the script.

I honestly can't go into what happens in it. Blech

I don't get why people seem so offended how its a animated comedy for adults. While yes I think adult cartoons should be treated with more respect I feel it isn't the case here. Its an adult animated comedy that kind of spoofs modern cgi family films. Its a pretty good concept that is finally coming true. Who was expecting this to be serious and mature to begin with?

Because cheap parody shows barren of anything resembling imagination are the only kind of adult animation that seems to exist for mainstream Western television, and that got seriously old when I was in Jr High?

I mean it, the last attempt at a serious and mature cartoon on American airwaves that WASN'T actually a children's show that I can even think of is Spawn the Animated Series. Which came out in the 90s.

Being disgusted at more-of-the-same shlock is a fair response.

I guess I'm just one who doesn't get offended easily. I think the concept is funny and the trailer made me laugh. So I like it so far.

In all seriousness though, I don't have much thoughts on this otherbthan the concept is extremely overplayed and it's the same jokes everytime.

I think it's less of people getting offended (or maybe Tumblr's up in arms about this, I wouldn't be too surprised) and more of people just not finding it funny. I mean, when your main selling point is a potato saying 'Jesus skreeonk,' I can't help but feel it's par for the course.

This movie looks alright. I just hope that it it'll open the door for the possibility of more mature and less restricted animated films down the road.

I can only speak for myself, I'm not offended. I just want something that is more mature, not immature.

When the trailer started, I was instantly reminded of Food Fight.

Overall, seeing as how this is a Seth Rogen film, it looks like what I expected, and honestly, if you were expecting something of higher caliber than the rest of his work, then you're more than a little misguided.

Still, if this does well, we could see a Deadpool effect of more big, theatrical animated films being made for adults.

off topic, but pretty much my main issue with a lot of the "Adult" animated shows on tv nowadays.

I was shocked to learn Ghost in the Shell movie got a release in U.S. theaters back in the 90's. If I had known at the time I would have gone. It saddens me that Japan get's cool poop like the Hellsing OVA in their theaters and we don't, it's right to DVD for us. I mean come on, how cool would it be to see that poop on the big screen?
