Yesterday was the 25th Anniversary of Terminator 2, and it still looks fantastic. Until now I never knew that they were planning to re-release this in 3D. I can't wait.

Ripped from the pages of 1992's hellacool crossover epic written by Frank Miller and draw by Walt Simonson.

I guess this is the right place for this.

James Cameron and David Ellison are "leaning toward doing a three-film arc..." Nothing is official yet, but Ellison currently holds the rights, which revert back to Cameron next year.

I think the original characters and narrative are basically as complete as they should be. They need a full reboot if they do more movies. That or different points in time.

Yeah, I'd be down for movies that use the basic concept, but don't revisit the same characters or events at all.

Those characters never needed a second movie, much less and third part and a series of alternate fourth parts.

Well too late. Linda Hamilton is set to return as Sarah Conner and will ignore all post Cameron continuity.

So Terminator fans that don't want it get the alternate wipe-the-slate-clean-post-Cameron sequel that Alien fans craved and got denied because of Ridley Scott's vanity projects? So unfair...

Well, guys, apparently the first Terminator: Dark Fate footage was shown at CinemaCon and the audience's reactions were very positive.

Not only that, but they said it looks and feels very much like a James Cameron film, and it was noted that he was heavily involved as a producer. :D

So it looks like Tim Miller and James Cameron will #MakeTerminatorGreatAgain if the early footage reaction is anything to go by. And make Terminator R again, which the two kinda go hand-in-hand. I've never been a fan of violence/gore just for the sake of it, but for a franchise like the Terminator, it's skreeonking warranted. Terminator literally made its mark on its grittiness and brutality, which was lost by making the last 2 movies PG-13, both of which sucked. PG-13 Terminator movies just don't work, glad they're going back to their dark R roots with this one.

The PG-13 ones didn't work because they were a mess, and T3 was rated R but look how that turned out lol.

The last 2 movies were a mess in no small part because they tried to fit a story about evil killer futuristic robots taking over the human race (!) within the limitations of a PG-13 rating. It's because of the PG-13 rating that they turned the last 2 movies into mindless summer blockbusters instead of the dramatic set pieces that were the first 2 movies all in an effort to sell more tickets, which failed, anyway because T3 actually grossed more than Salvation and more than Genisys with inflation.

These movies require levels of grit and high stakes that you can only get with an R rating (which we all know Tim Miller can deliver on from Deadpool) and while it doesn't guarantee a good movie (see T3), PG-13 Terminator movies have been proven not to work. They're just not built for it. Whoever thought it was a good idea to sell a series known for eye-stabbing, decapitating robots to kids needs to be slapped.

PG-13 RoboCop didn't work, either, as a surprise to no one. Nothing about its "supercop vs. crime-ridden hellhole" premise screams family-friendly, that might have something to do with it.

I mean, if anyone was going to un-fuck this franchise it would be James Cameron. It was a huge relief for me when I saw he was directing.

That looks extremely underwhelming and disappointing... Looks like Terminator Genisys revamped...

I mean it's only the first teaser so I will wait for more but that did not get my excited or hopeful in the least... As a matter of a fact it lowered my already low expectations. Very very disappointed.

That trailer looks gross lol, and i liked Salvation, hell i even liked pieces of Genisys... but this just looks gross.

I think they're implying robots can be human too? Why did they throw in a weird 7 foot human/robot woman as the protag though? Why not just keep it to John Connor, Sarah Connor and T-800? Like they did with both films Sarah was in previously?

So pretty much just Terminator and Terminator 2 blended into one? Oh yeah very creative. I knew this movie was gonna be bad.

Just stop please and let these classics die already. No more can be done.

I think they're trying to do a "passing the torch" type movie.

Eh, I thought it it was a solid, but kinda disappointing teaser with some cool ideas sprinkled in. You know they have a good movie in there somewhere, it has cool concepts for these new characters. I'm interested in seeing the backstories to the new cyborg chick and the Columbian chick the new shapeshifting T-1000 retread Terminator was sent to destroy, and his ability to split into two separate forms sounds phat as hell, but overall, it leaves much to be desired.

But yeah, I didn't get that "return to form" true sequel to T2 vibe at all. Here's hoping they'll show us something to actually get us EXCITED for Terminator again in later trailers, though that ship sadly may have already sailed. There's only so much you can do with any series after 4-5 movies. And where's that big action set piece prowess Tim Miller is so known for delivering?
