I don't think that the trailer was bad per se, but given how we never got a good solid Terminator movie that holds up after T2, this trailer needed to be MUCH better then what it was. It's nice to see Linda Hamilton as a tough fighter, though. So at least it has that.

Yeah. Happy the franchise is back (again), but just doesn't seem like it'll be as good as the first two. I don't know, just seems to be something missing. And I don't care what anyone says, but I liked Terminator Genisys and would have welcomed a sequel. Oh well.

The last time we tried getting a true sequel that ignored everything post T2, we got Genisys.

And like Genisys, this looks like it'll suck ass from an ass while riding an ass.

Still sad that this is not a "real" James Cameron film. Given he got the rights back and all, I really wanted him in the director's chair. Being produced by him is not enough for me. His strength is in directing imo. I get that he's obviously very busy but I woulda been happy to wait, as I think many others would. Maybe he'll actually direct another new terminator film after he's finished with the Avatar series? Still, I enjoyed Deadpool 1 enough that I'm really curious as to what Miller will do with the IP.

I could not disagree more. I think Cameron is a very strong ideas guy with a lot of great instincts as far as production design is concerned, but I could count on one hand the number of really good performances I've seen from actors in Cameron movies.

The TDF footage shown at CinemaCon was apparently longer and much better-received, so I guess I'm still holding out a tiny, tiny bit of hope for this.

Thar SDCC '19/Geek Pride Parade footage in question.

Wow, that second trailer looks so much better than the first one. Add to this the news of Edward Furlong reprising his role as John Connor and I have my faith restored in this movie.

I'm sure they'll use Furlong and Schwarzenegger as more than fan service. Very sure. Positive....

No. I liked it. It seemed that I lot of people on the internet, and forums that I went back and forth with. Also enjoyed GENESYS as well. Heck, James Cameron even gave it a big thumbs up saying it successfully rebooted the franchise to boot. I remember seeing a few headlines for reviews of the flick that were rather positive. More positive than JURASSIC WORLD for Unicron's sake. Would've enjoyed to see that particular timeline continue with where Pops/Guardian came from. Still looking forward to see where Cameron takes it with Dark Fate.

For those of you who still think "oh, Edward Furlong isn't actually in the film, it's just a CGI stand in", he's officially listed in the casting for the movie, so it's the actual actor appearing.

So does this more or less put to rest the theories of:

Spoiler:
him being dead, since the plot leaks have him dying early on in a post-T2 flashback sequence?

He might not have a huge role, it might just be a T7-lead-in cameo at the end, but it confirms he's still alive at least. Thank God. My guess is he goes missing and that's what sets up Sarah Connor and her Terminator-hunting ways.

There are three franchises I am completely done with: Predator, Alien, and Terminator.

To me, they all peaked decades ago and most attempts to recapture the magic have fallen flat.

In Terminator's case, T2 was the perfect ending: Somber, bittersweet, ambiguous, yet hopeful. But every entry since has slowly killed any and all interest I had in this franchise.

And this one is right back to the same well we always go back too: Time traveling robots sent to kill/protect the savior of the future. It is so played out. I've seen 4 movies with that exact plot, and I'm just done. To its credit, Salvation at least moved the story forward. It was dull and messy, but at least it tried!

Well, to its credit, the second trailer does show Grace fighting LEGION Terminators, so it does lead off into Judgment Day. That's at least something (fairly) new and fresh.

Here's an extended (Red Band) version of the same trailer released the other day:

I gotta admit, the featurette and latest trailer looked pretty good. If only they released this instead of that first trailer.
