Re: Re: DC Cinematic Universe
Still unfortunate, though. Outside of the DCEU's appalling context, I'd love to see a Batgirl movie by such a competent director.
Also, stop being fair, Zarm. Theoretically appropriate for Lobo or not, Michael Bay doesn't need to come anywhere near this series. It can't sink much lower than it already has, but his distinctive brand of Awful would just be a rotting cherry this sad sundae doesn't need to be topped with. He'd most likely be the particularly embarrassing final nail in its coffin, or far worse, the financial savior that keeps it staggering along with him at the wheel.

I don't know if it's fair so much as wanting to see the DCEU die in a fireball of ironic poetic justice, but... okay, I will try.

Re: Re: DC Cinematic Universe
With Bumblebee, Alita, and Aquaman all the same weekend this December, it'll be interesting.
Alita, aside from Cameron as producer, doesn't seem to have a lot of hype for it at this point (even if it's way over in December) for a movie as expensive as it is. Transformers and the DCEU are both weakened brands (as far as movie series go, not other things). I'm guessing Fox, Paramount, and WB are hoping to at least maximize the great multipliers that December movies get from December through January (if not even longer than that). Of these movies, in North America it's mainly going to be about Aquaman and Bumblebee. Either of those movies doing $200 million or more is actually probably kind of a win given where the last movie for each series ended. So both have to be as great as they can be, but the upside is that if they are great they can really do well. Alita, eh. I think even with great reviews it's not going to be a big winner, which is unfortunate. Back to Aquaman though, it really needs to show us that there's a quality DCEU there, that Wonder Woman wasn't the only great movie we'll have. From Aquaman through 2019, there will a trio of these movies: Aquaman, Shazam, and Wonder Woman 2.

Well things aren't looking so bright for the DCEU.

What should've been their breaking point ended up being the lowest grossing of their films.

Hasn't that already been quite well established? I don't think we're being productive to continue pointing that out.GodzillaFan1990's wrote:Well things aren't looking so bright for the DCEU.

The movie's a medicore installment that didn't do that well given what it should've, and from that we can look to the future.

Honestly, WB is wasting their time with the DCEU films that are already in production. Aquaman might make a decent, if underwhelming, return at the BO, but Shazam will absolutely not.
I think the best course of action is to just hang it up for about five years and come back with a new Batman to kick things off.

How I'd personally do it is.UltramanGoji wrote:I think the best course of action is to just hang it up for about five years and come back with a new Batman to kick things off.
1. Man of Steel
2. Batman (Doesn't need to be an origin story, just a solo Batman movie introducing him into the universe)
3. Batman and Superman: World's Finest (No need for them to fight, just a movie involving the two of them like teaming up or something. Martian Manhunter makes an appearance in an post-credit scene arriving on earth to warn about an threat: The White Martians)
4. Wonder Woman
5. Justice League (After doing movies on the Trinity is when I would start to introduce the other Justice League members who even then could be built up through having cameos or post-credit scenes in the previous installments. I'd make the White Martians the main villains and reason for the Justice League forming)
There much better building up.

I was rewatching Man of Steel and I just realized that Superman's human dad is played by Kevin Cosner. I haven't seen it in a while so maybe that's why I never noticed. Makes the movie a little more enjoyable.
Anyone else hopes that Aquaman says "Outrageous!" at some point?
