New Sonic movie in the works? Make it so.

This movie will go one of two ways:

1. It will be like Zilla '98. I.E: It will make a profit, but it will be so small and get so killed by fans, the GA, and critics, that it will destroy any hope of a sequel.

2. It will outright bomb hard.

Oh my god. Sonic looks even more repulsive than I imagined. As if the franchise needed even more meme material.

This entire movie just looks painfully average, or basic as Robotnik’s own lackey stated, and to me that’s honestly worse than it having been straight up terrible looking. There’s just... Not much to say with it so far, and I walked away from the trailer as a Sonic fan not really feeling a whole lot, just, “eh, well anyway, moving on”.

I’m obviously not one of those who genuinely wishes to see this movie fail, because that will do nothing good for Sonic’s reputation in the general public, and will push him further down that already massive rabbit hole. Hopefully the trailer isn’t indicative of the final product, but from the looks of it, that might just be the case and that scares me.

So, the plot was leaked a while back. And it said at the very end, or perhaps in a credits scene, Eggman would be on Sonic's world looking more like his actual self. So it's interesting that they straight up spoil that in the trailer. I assume that was done to be like "LOOK! If you give us a sequel you might get ACTUAL Eggman."

I just don't understand why they thought taking the movie in this direction would be a good idea. What a shit show.

Because I don't see this trainwreck getting a sequel. Then again, I may see this just because of the whole "curiosity of seeing a trainwreck" thing, though I may just wait for the Redbox. No way am I paying full price to see this monstrosity, which looks worse than I ever could've possibly imagined. Hell, just when I think it couldn't get any worse, they had Sonic play and jam to Gangsta's Paradise in the fucking trailer. Because, you know, it totes fits the character.

Oh, I completely agree. Instead of giving us something awesome the first time, their method appears to be to save it for the next film. Only problem is, this movie isn't getting a sequel in all likelihood. Should've taken place in Sonic's world with his supporting cast.

The reception to the trailer has been so overwhelmingly negative it blows my mind. I thought it would kinda fly under the radar. But it's currently trending #1 on YouTube. Fucking insane.
