They're doing this because August is their "Summer Under The Stars" month, where every day they have a 24-hour marathon dedicated to one of the greatest actor/actress of all time, such as John Wayne or Ingrid Bergman. Today, August 9th, is a day dedicated to Toshiro Mifune, so they're showing all of his best movies. The first half of the day is lots of films he did with Kurosawa, though its almost over now, they're on the last Kurosawa/Mifune film right now with Red Beard, then they'll have more films he did without Kurosawa.
