I got a Predator/Predator 2 DVD-combo at Walmart the other day, and took the time to watch the first one. It's a well-made action film (with a nice musical score), but I'd honestly rather watch Aliens. Still, the original Predator is a pretty cool monster in its own right and the actions pretty cool.

Will watch Predator 2 later.

Why not get the special editions instend since the special edition for Predator, and Predator 2 are around $10-20?

Does no one turn over DVDs anymore and check the aspect and features?! :O

Why would anyone buy a fulscreen DVD?

If you had a HD TV then wide screen fits the best. I'm not a fan of full screen neither.

why is fullscreen a bad thing?

They zoom in and crop the film to fill the frame. It undermines the intentions of the cinematographer and the director.

I've been watching my VHS of Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla since I was atleast 10, and when I finally got the wide-screen DVD I was blown away that I was missing 25% of movie.

Because they are relatively hard to find now. They are not out of print, however.

My main movie viewing TV is a 42'' Widescreen HDTV screen. Fullscreen actually shrinks the picture to make it fit. If I make it "full screen" on a 16:9 TV, it looks like shit.

I've seen test footage of the suit. Its head bobbed around and it carried an laser pistol. Also it was shorter then Schwarzenegger. It would've been a goofy monster, and I think the design is sorta' bland.

But this is why the cosmic forces that rule the universe so graciously granted us Stan Winston.

I saw that awkward monstrosity on the Predator widescreen special edition's extra features. It looks ridiculous, not like a "Demon Who Makes Trophies from Men". I'm surprised we haven't seen that guy in a SciFi/Syfy Original Picture yet.

Now that I think about it, they had some footage of it on the special edition DVD, but it was only of the "red-suit" version used for the camouflage effects.

That's what I saw of it too. It's head bobs around like it was rockin' to a funky beat and held its laser pistol like a cowboy.

Pretty sure Dutch could just give him a wedgie and be done with it.

That could have held possibilities for the finale.

"Draw!"

And it shot some kind of spinning projectile too. It looked like a cheap firework. What was with that?

I demand a shootout between man and martian at high-noon. Someone make that movie.

I think, overall, it's a testament to how important creature design is; the movie would've been exactly the same, but Stan Winston's utterly fantastic monster completely saves the movie.
