Monsters University (2013)

Postby Hellspawn28 » Thu Jun 21, 2012 12:18 pm

I search to see if another thread has been made and I found nothing. Here is the teaser for the upcoming prequel to Monsters Inc. (2001). The movie is set to be released on June 21, 2013.

I loved the first movie and I think this could be fun. I'm not a fan of the new style that they are going for the movie, it reminds how most CG animated cartoons look in the past five years.

I'll be obligated to see this seeing as how Monsters Inc. was the first movie my wife and I saw together when we were dating. I still would have preferred a sequel rather than a prequel but oh well...
There has never been a "Scientifically Accurate" Dinosaur portrayed on any Television Show, Movie, or Documentary. Only what the human imagination can conceive, and I'm ok with that.

I wasn't sure what I thought about the idea of a second Monsters Inc. anyway, but after learning it's going to be a prequel, I can't help but think of something comedian Patton Oswalt said:

"I DON'T GIVE A SHIT WHERE THE STUFF I LOVE COMES FROM. I JUST LOVE THE STUFF I LOVE."

Setting it in a college of all things (seriously, what the hell?) makes this the first Pixar movie I'll purposely skip since, well, Cars 2. All the directions they could've gone with a sequel to Monsters Inc. (It's years later and Mike and Sulley encounter Boo's child? Mankind finds out about the monsters and freaks out?), and they went with "LOL MIKE AND SULLEY IN COLLEGE"? Just... what?
"What kind of science do you call this?!"

They also plan to re-release the first movie in 3D next January. I guess Disney wants people to get hype up for this movie but I don't think the movie is going to be good as the first film.

That scene at the end with the slow music made me laugh hard.

Interesting....

Hopefully Pixar will pull this off and not flunk it like last year's movie.

I've been excited for this since rumors of it began going around.

Dammit Pixar. They keep making sequels to the movies that don't need them. And the sequels aren't even that good.

I kinda agree on this since i want to see this Movie. (The effects of this movie...i dont like them as the original
they are too "cartoony") But if this movie makes it big then im guessing they will release a Sequel...

So wait hold up... another Batman movie and another Spiderman movie come out weeks apart, and that's no big deal, just more movies...

But Pixar is doing only it's second non-Toy Story sequel and THEY'RE the money-grubbing sequel whores?

Really?

Personally, this is the first Pixar movie I've had any interest in for years, excluding Toy Story 3.

I loved the first one, but I kinda wish this one was a sequel...

like, Monsters finally revealing themselves to the real world... or Boo coming back to the monster world as a teenager, ot adult even...

Granted it's Fan speculation, but some people say that the little girl who ends up adopting the toys in Toy Story 3 is actually Boo a year or two older. Again, it's fan speculation, but I think that would be cool.

They've only done three, one of which is among their most well-recieved films ever, and one of which is over ten years old.

What does one being ten years old have to do with it being good? I'm assuming that you're talking about Toy Story 2 & 3, right? What I'm saying is that they need to do better sequels not series. The Toy Story's are pure. Cars 2 and more than likely this... not so much.
But that's just my opinion.

My point is more so that if 1 of 3 sequels is old, then clearly it's not ONLY a cash grab, like a lot of people want to make it out to be.

If it was a cash grab, we'd easily be at Toy Store 5, if not 15, by this point. By ten years into it's lifespan, Friday the 13th was at eight movies. It took Toy Story fifteen years to reach three by comparison.

I really don't see why people (not only you) have such a negative opinion of this movie based on no plotline and two minutes of footage that won't even be in the final film. The first Toy Story 3 trailer wasn't that fantastic either.

Oh, okay that makes a lot more sense to me.

Personally the reason I'm biased against this movie just based off the two minute trailer is that the comedy wasn't all that smart, just childish pranks. And based off the first one I think there could've been several better story lines than 'College'. Plus the animation is a downgrade, unless that's just the trailer.
