The Official TK Prop Thread

This is it.... THE OFFICIAL TK PROP THREAD!

Can be puppets, models, minis, weapons, clothing ..WHATEVER!

I know on eBay, steam punk stuff is INSANE (especially staem punk NERF guns). POST YOUR PICS and stuff HERE!

Back in 2005-2006 I made this:
Tom Serve from MST3K. This is a functional figure. it can be made into a puppet but once you do, it wont stand up or sit on a flat surface.
I bought the hands, body, engine & head off eBay from Canada.
The shoulders, upper arms and trains on the skirts from joecrow.com.
The bowl came from a dude off a bot website. The skirt molding & springs from Ace Hardware.

Grand total: $435
Image

I just finished this (well 99% done):
Functional Mjolnir/War Hammer.
I bought the head - an old piece of rail road track from eBay.
The steel stock 1'' handle from Alro.
The pommel from Ace Hardware.
And the wrap is Wilson comfort grip tennis wrap.
It's 17lbs, all steel, NO plastic, TOTALLY functional.

Album.

I made an ODST helmet out of cardboard for halloween back in '09. Im currently having someone make me a full suit of T-51B Power Armor from Fallout out of resin and fiberglass.

The helmet is deteriorating sadly:

Image

It started raining as we where walking home and the helmet got damaged. Originally it included a chest peice, shin guards and shoulder plates as well as an SMG and Assault Rifile but those all rotted away in the rain.

People have also used the same method to create incredible (and wearable) props such as these:

As for my armor, my friend's camera broke so he cant take any pictures. The armor is currently in the final stages of completion.

Whenever I get the money, im going to get really involved in the prop making hobby.

EDIT:

Fun Fact: A Pulse Rifle like the one above can be made using a Thompson M1A1 and SPAS-12 airsoft guns, however a conversion kit must be purchased in order to complete the prop as it has the "Pulse Rifle parts" such as the ammo counter and the arch thingy on the top of the gun.

My problem with bolters and chain-swords, is Id want SOME function in them. Id want a chain-sword that was actually MADE from a chainsaw. Id want a bolter that at LEAST was like a NERF gun capable of firing an 8oz slug, or a potato gun.

well, yeah! If you had fiberglass skillz you could create a new fiberglass case for the engine. Or at least use a 22'' bar and chain from a real chainsaw in the construction. If Tonka can make a fake 8'' chainsaw toy that has a beaded chain chain then some prop maker can use a real Husqvarna chainsaw!

There's some guy somewhere, (I think ebay) who makes Tom Servos and Crows, and sells them. They both work like real puppets on the show.

Buying a premade one (I think they sell for $400-450 on eBay) arent as fun as making one. Also the shipping is insane.

I want a full-sized Xenomorph costume.

Does that count as a prop?

I've always wanted to make my own Crow and Tom Servo. And a chainsaw arm from Evil Dead 2.

I got my next prop thought out.

Gonna make a Thunderstrike Mace.

Already have the pattern ready. Just need to goto Alro and get the metal stock then hit up the welder. I figure it should cost $75 or less.

Im still trying to find a nice heavy duty strap for Mjolnir. I dont think leather will do it. It's 17lbs..

Yes. I recall seeing several videos of a guy making a functional Xenomorph mask whos lips curled and snarled, saliva drizzled out, inner jaw shot in and out, and could emmit smoke to give the impression of acid:

Heres another neat one I found:
