I've lost weight a few times before, and in my experience, it isn't overly difficult. All I did was eat low-fat foods (primarily stuff that's actually good, like low-fat ham or turkey sandwiches, Bagel Bites, pretzels, diet soda, etc.) and do a little basic, gym-class kind of excercise every day, and I lost quite a bit of weight (20-ish pounds, or so) within a few months. Not a lot to it, really. As long as you have any willpower at all, you should be fine.
