So I've collected a bunch of stuff...

Postby Godzilla 1995 » Wed Feb 15, 2012 6:50 pm

So, here's my deal. I've ended up through either my brother dumping the stuff in my room, or me having bought it from him when I was a kid, a bunch of baseball and pokemon cards...heck pokemon cards and all their stuff. But the thing is, I want to get rid of it all, and I have no clue how. What would be the best way to sell the stuff? Online? Comic shop? What? Any help here would be hot.

There was a site my bro and I used to use that would give 10$ for every 1000(or 100 cant remember) non-rare (common) pokemon cards you had no matter their conditions (I mean unless they were cut or shredded in peices lulz) if you sent them in. I cant remember their rare card pricing but I will try to find this site for you. As far as baseball cards go I don't know never collected them much. If your really looking to get rid quickly you can always tally their worth and give them to goodwill and get a receipt for a tax percentage write-off, but you wont get nearly as much money, just the easy way out. If you have really rare pokemon cards, (holographic 1st edition Charizard, etc.) you could always try eBay,Amazon, craigslist to sell it. When I see my bro next I will ask him what the name of that pokemon site was.

Go to a comic/TCG shop and get the cards appraised. There are also price guides floating on the internet that will give you a price for every card produced.

Usually comic book stores have books full of that stuff too.

EDIT:

This may help you with the Pokemon cards.

As for the baseball cards...Hell if I know.

Ebay, Ebay, and more Ebay, my friend.

And if that fails, try Ebay.

how old are the Pokemon cards? I'd be interested if any of them are holographic. I strictly collect the shiny ones, lol.

Of course you would, they're worth the most. When the apocalypse happens I will take over the world and pokemon cards will be instated as the money exchange of the future, with the holographic ones being valued as highly as gold.

Actually, they're not worth the most. Cards that are current (as in, are in the current rotation and can be used legally in tournaments) and have the most use in decks are worth the most, regardless of whether they're holo or not.

Reverse holo usually arent worth much but holo on the picture used to be worth more than the rest (for instance base set 1st edition Charizard (holographic) was worth the most of the base set cards). Of course I say used to be, because I've been long out of the pokemon game 5-7+ years ago. So I have to admit your right nowadays because I have no opinion to form on it because I really don't know much about it anymore. I just buy a pack or two ever so often and occasionally battle my bro for fun, and I still like the holographic ones best though and would make them my currency for money. Lulz

yeah, the older cards are actually not worth much at all nowadays, aside from a few like Charizard and the shiny Pokemon from the Neo (Gold and Silver) sets. The newer cards are usually worth more until they're rotated out.

I ran a Pokemon league and played competitively for years up until the end of last year, so I was up on which cards were worth what. I'm not too sure on the current rotation though since it's changed again since then and I haven't had money or time to build a new deck or play. I just collect holos for my own amusement because I like them.

Oh thanks for filling me in. And sweet about the pokemon league, did you ever enter into any of the big tourneys? My bro and I always said we would when we were younger.

Nah, I never went to any of the big ones. To be honest I'm not a very competitive person by nature, so I wasn't very good. :p I just did it for fun. Plus, I never wanted to pony up for the expensive cards. I got kind of sick of it being a case of whoever had the best, most expensive cards always having the advantage.

Playing for fun is the best. Alas all good things must come to an end, or to big money... sucks the fun out of it all. Seems everything comes down to money.

Well, the pokemon cards range from being really old(as in the very first sets, the original 151) to Diamond and Pearl when I stopped caring. Most are in really good condition.

If you get the time and you wouldn't mind PMing me a list of whatever holos you've got, I'd be interested.
