I've seen the following under the influence:

Gojira
Mothra vs. Godzilla (AIP cut)
Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla
Terror of Mechagodzilla
Godzilla 1985
Godzilla vs. Biollante
Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II
Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla
Godzilla Tokyo SOS

Honestly, I think the lighter-hearted movies (like the Jun Fukuda movies) would be the best for watching high. The more heavy-handed serious movies are pretty forgettable experiences.

EDIT: Forgot to add Gamera: Attack of Legion and Gamera The Brave to the list.

Do Godzilla vs Hedorah. That flick is already like a tripe all of it's own so I wanna know if watching while stoned makes it make more sense or makes it even more crazy then it already is.

I'm not going to. I don't smoke weed anymore.

I saw Tron: Legacy sober, and I still thought it was fantastic. I rewatched it stoned and it was just as good. Tron: Legacy was just a movie critics didn't get. The original film was released along time ago, before many modern critics started writing. Despite it being a total and revolutionary game changer, it kind of got swept under the rug because it was released at the wrong time. Comparatively, it remained illusive on DVD and Home Video. Disney REALLY gambled making a sequel to something that got ignored by the public. Of course the critics couldn't get it. Still, I can wait for Tron 3! The Tron franchise is one of my favorites!

On watching film stoned, there is a common misconception among my friends that getting high and watching movies makes the movie better. I disagree and feel that its insulting to the movie by doing that, as its more often than not, NOT the way the film is meant to be viewed. I think if a movie is only good because it was funny while you smoked pot, then the film isn't that good. A film should stand on its own. some films can replicate drug experiences. Smoking pot and then watching a film for the first time is really disrespectful. I;m of the opinion that a good movie makes being stoned better, not the other way around.

I heard that Tron Legacy was criticized for it's poor writing.

I watched Gojira stoned with my dumbass friends. They took nothing from the film. Then we later watched Mothra vs. Godzilla. They just started laughing hysterically at the movie, calling the mothra larva "just two little shits" and then referring to their web as "cum".

Needless to say, I don't hang out with them much anymore.

I disagree immensely. I thought the writing was excellent and really brought the ideas and characters of Tron to the next level.

I wish I even had friends to watch Godzilla movies with! I was finishing up the last 15 minutes or so of Terror of Mechagodzilla at a friends house once on Netflix while everyone else was playing CoD and all I got were laughs and "your retarded". I've never ever in my entire life even met another Godzilla fan which sucks because I love the franchise so much and (no offense) but the only people I can can talk to about it and relate with are on these forums. It was a day maker when I found TK.

Well, I was actually introducing my friend to the genre. I actually had a good time with him initially watching these movies, and we watched Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, Tokyo SOS and Terror of Mechagodzilla. Then came that moment I just described earlier, and I decided not to watch the movies with him anymore.

I'm showing one of my other friends the Godzilla movies. I'm showing them to him in order. We've got to Mothra vs. Godzilla so far.

But Rogue, I can definitely relate. I don't know anyone else that likes Godzilla as much as I do. I used to even be embarrassed of Godzilla, but know I'm more open about it. Luckily I have had some chance encounters with G-fans in real life. I even saw a bunch of them when I went to see Son of Godzilla at the Colonial movie theater in New Hampshire last summer.

What needs to happen is a an online Godzilla fandom meet and greet club. Shit, tohokingdom could put that into motion. All you have to do is when you register, put down what state/town you live in, and then an engine figures out the closest fans to you. I owuld think for those of us who live in cities, it would be easy to find friends that way.

I would recommend watching with friends while high, because otherwise your just kind of sitting there and the experience is incredibly forgettable.

Recommended

Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla
Gamera 2
Terror of Mechagodzilla
Godzilla Tokyo SOS
Gamera the Brave

Not Recommended
Gojira
Mothra vs. Godzilla

These are all of the movies I have watched with friends stoned. Of course, your mileage may vary. Although logic would dictate the more light-hearted colorful movies (Jun Fukuda anyone?) would be good. Godzilla vs. Hedorah could work to, I guess.

Megalon and Sea Monster, MST style.

Or would that be too much to take in at once?

^ That's how I feel about MEGAGUIRUS. Tried watching it again the other night...still sucks. I also don't find the final battle to be very "epic" at all, actually. The film also drags for another 15 minutes after Megaguirus is dispatched. Ugh.. :dizzy: Even the most dankest of shit doesn't make this movie any better.

Oddly enough the only people in high school in Florida I could stand were stoners and I quit toking up in my last two years. I just couldn't get along with the guidos, gangstas, nerds, and scene kids. I actually can't stand smoking anything; it messes with my weak lungs. I think I have a mild case of asthema or something.

I do admit that I love the high feeling from pain pills and adderall. I think I like that feeling better than smoking pot.
