Most of the female vocal versions I know of are much more understated. Sinatra's take was so big because I think it was the first arrangement that wasn't in 3, and also because Basie and his group played the hell out of it. Most versions since have basically copied that recording but without the same punch.

Wormed has a new EP out and it's arguably the metal release of the year. As brutal as ever but they really experiment on their unconventional melodies and harmonies to a greater degree: in earlier releases they'd usually use those riffs to punctuate the heavier sections. This is the stand out track, IMO. Atmospheric, jagged, frightening:

I've found myself shifting more to the pop side of the 80's in recent months after years of consistently listening to the metal. Of course, the reason for posting the songs of the two ladies above lies mostly in the fact that I saw them in concert a couple weeks ago, and got to do a meet and greet with them; from which I was able to get autographs!
TK's resident other 1980's fan who longs for that decade's return, and severe weather fanatic.

Bathory's self titled debut.
Currently playing my 1987 Under One Flag repressing of this album on my turntable. When they put this album on CD and digital the sound quality got compressed and that translated to any vinyl reissues, so I had to seek out an original copy for the best sound quality.
As pretentious as that vinyl sentence sounded, this album slaughters. Can you believe there was no distortion pedal used here? Only amp distortion and a garage converted to a studio produced a sound this savage. Posers beware this black/thrash classic.
