I was sleeping and I think my right eye opened (since I've had part of the eyelid removed, it doesn't stay closed as easily as the left one) and I ended up in this weird half-dreaming, half-hallucinating state. What did I hallucinate? That large spiders were coming out of one corner of my ceiling and crawling across the black strip that lines the tops of my walls.

Were you able to move, or were you paralyzed? If so, then CONGRATULATIONS! You may have experienced the terrifying phenomenon known as sleep paralysis! I go through it every few months!

On topic: I think I pulled a hamstring this morning. My thigh is bruised, and it hurts if I so much as move my right leg or sit down. I'm gonna' have to see a doctor tomorrow. :(

My friend said it could have been sleep paralysis :/ I didn't try to move because I was in this really bizarre state where I was mostly dreaming but slowly becoming more aware of the fact that my bad eye was open. So I guess I couldn't move? It was really weird.

Yesterday, my Dad and I went to one of our friends house for a fellowship and barbecue. We had two types of ribs to choose from, regular cuts or wild hog cuts. I ate two of the wild hog cuts down to the bone. A few minutes after we got home I started to feel ill. My stomach was bloated and I felt that I would throw up. I went to bed asap and managed to sleep okay.

I just got up a few minutes ago and I thought it was over. Nope. I've had some bad diarrhea, my stomach is still a bit bloated, I'm extremely shaking, and I'm still belching the tastes of last nights ribs. It better not be a virus.....

Over the last three days, I've only had four hours of sleep. My leg injury doesn't help things, but that's not the problem. I would go to see my doctor, but unfortunately he is on vacation. I feel like a zombie. My short term memory has gone to shit and my motor skills have suffered. Today I nearly took a tumble down the stairs, but a friend grabbed me before it happened. This is hell. I hope my doctor comes back soon. :(

A week and a half ago, I was in on a conference call with some outside producers/crew, to let them know what our post departments needs/expectations were for footage delivery. This was an hour eaten out of my day (right at the time I usually take lunch), just so that I could be in the room for the five minutes needed to cover a few simple (but important) things. Probably the point I spent the most time on was tape/card naming conventions. I was EXPLICIT: show code + date + camera designation + card number. So, for example, if the show was Toho Kingdom Follies, and I were looking at the first A Cam card, shot on 09/08/15, the label would read TKF0908A01. Pretty straightforward. They acknowledged, they said they'd do exactly that. What did they deliver? Well, it's not entirely consistent, but none of them included the show code, and the format they mostly fell back on went more like A-001_090815_Day1. And that first number, the 001? Did they have the sense to restart that numbering each day? Nope. A Cam for day two starts with A-004.

Also during that call, I raised the issue of frame rate. Turns out nobody had given any thought to what frame rate to shoot in. I told them that we could work with 23.98 or 29.97, but that whatever they did, they had to be consistent. Every camera had to be set the same, and had to stay the same the whole time. They decided to go with 23.98 (which is annoying, but no big deal). What did I get back? Three cameras rolling 23.98 the whole time, and one camera rolling 29.97 the whole time.

These are not first year film students, these are paid professional TV production crews, and they cannot remember a simply labeling system or put their cameras in the same frame rate!
Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.

My parents found out about the Sailor Moon music I listen to by wanting to borrow my phone while I was bobbing my head. They accidentally pulled the earbud plug and... yeah. :|

Oh trust me. It is for people with certain kinds of parents. Especially when it's related to anything girly.

If the kid wants to listen to Japanese music, I say let him. Any parent who ever shames their kid for doing something as minor as that doesn't know how to raise their kid, or is just extremely confused.
Just because it's from a different country (and maybe in a different language), it doesn't mean that it'll give the kid Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease.

SPEAKING OF WHICH:
I've been seeing stuff like this happen all the time, unfortunately. Parents who hide anything foreign away from their kids. I mean, I can somewhat understand Japan stuff being hidden, what with their culture being rather... weird in the eyes of an American and the fact that they pretty much do not shame anything sexual at all. But it's not hiding the weird stuff from your kid for the sake of keeping them sane, or just being a good parent and not letting them watch pornography when they're merely eleven or something, I'm talking about the extreme patriotism down here at times. I'm 100% sure it's not exclusive to America, but it is certainly annoying to get called a "creepy weeb" because I watched a Godzilla movie and get shamed for watching or playing anything that might be foreign - this even goes as far as saying I play Nintendo games means I'm brain-damaged or a weeaboo. And if it ISN'T foreign, it gets praised to the end as these kids run around screeching about how God blessed America and no other country.
You know that stupid 4Kids Star Spangled Banner song?

I'm talking even more extreme than something like this.
For example:
I was talking with a Russian friend the other day, some guy comes in eavesdropping and I make a vodka joke because it's common with me and my friend to do ironic jokes referencing stereotypes, and the kid (well, he looked more like he was sixteen) comes up, takes it SERIOUSLY, and then tells my friend to "go to hell and take his communism with him." This guy wasn't joking at all, he tried to get other kids to pick on my friend and everything and eventually lead to my friend and I just leaving the place. You could call this just flat-out racism, and I'm going to respond to it with "It totally is. It's racism for the sake of patriotism."
Now why isn't this in the What Gets On Your Nerves Thread?
Because that's what ruined my day. My friend doesn't want to tell those jokes at all any more in public, or even speak of the fact that she's Russian.

Some people would say it's embarrassing to learn they're teen/adult children are into kaiju films cause it's "kiddy" stuff.

I too hate racism for the sake of patriotism. I remember I read this post on Facebook, shaming these college students for voting in favor of removing an American flag from the campus. It was well within their rights to vote on it but oh no, apparently they're horrible people for even suggesting that the precious little flag not fly. As if it somehow hurts America's sense of patriotism if one flag isn't up  How does that relate to racism? A comment read "Of course none of them are white" as if being white makes someone more American than everyone else. And it relates to ruining my day, because it ruined my day to see people publicly shamed over such a thing.

That's something I really don't understand. Why exactly does the flag have to be everywhere? Places important to America like the White House, totally. Police and fire stations? Sure. But then there are times when I pass by shopping centers and you literally can't go 50 feet without running into one. I just don't get it.
