Shota and shotacon are the same thing. The genre is an off-shoot of yaoi. Its a more psychologically disturbing genre in my opinion. Especially when written by male authors.

In response to SuperSaiyanGodzilla (or whatever his name was; I didn't put in the effort to memorize the name, which is my bad) I sort of understand why some male authors wrote shota stories. Most of us males have fantasized about such relations with adult women while we were still in our younger ages. I don't want to defend shota, but I have to admit I've been attracted to adult women even before puberty. That's pretty much the entire story there; a diminutive child that I was, attracted to the figure of a mature human female, but no way to act upon it because of the laws of society.
Needless to say after seeing the Cattleya/Rana art on sites I dare not mention, I had to pick up my lower jaw several times from the floor.
But the whole thing about shota being a manifestation of childhood fascination of adult women is merely just a theory. It just happens to fit my case, but I'm not sure about the rest of my hetero male kindred here.
