No not really. Can you explain this to me?

Basically the Sun was acting up on Tuesday and letting off a bunch of solar flares, which are resulting in Earth getting solar storms. The only thing that anyone really seems to be concerned about, unless I've missed something, is the potential for interruptions in global communications.

It totally skreeonk up my pirated interwebz at work. I couldnt get online and stay online til after 8p. And my cell phone wouldnt access email.

luckely it was only a minor threat, but it could get worse, since it's more active this year.

Regarding the heat ray:

Four or five months ago, this shady scientist was at my work, and he told me he was the man who had invented the microwave portion of said weapon, and he was now developing smaller versions of the device for Saudi yachts to fend off pirates. I asked him if the US government was considering using the device to combat illegal immigration and he said he couldn't answer. I also couldn't get him to answer what safe guards were in place to prevent you from burning someone to death with the weapon. He simply insisted they were there, and refused to believe that, in the wrong hands, someone could remove those guards and have an actual death ray.

The scenario I presented the guy was, since the device literally heats up the water particles in your body, what if someone was in some way incapacitated directly infront of one or more of the devices. It wouldn't be good. But he insisted no one would ever use his devices for nefarious purposes.

The microwave weapon? It's a pretty effective non-leathal countermeasure, especially for large crowds. You have no choice but to back out of its way because of involuntary reflex.

Wow, man. There goes his reputation. lol Preach philanthropy then pull that stunt. Classy.

There was still a solid message in that video, though. I hope people will at least take something from it and invest a little more of their time into making the world a better place. For the first time I saw people in my community actually giving a crap about people in another country. I can only hope that trend continues and they take the time to learn a little more about the harsh environments that people in certain countries have to deal with.
