How so? Genuinely asking. I can understand disagreeing, don't get me wrong, it's certainly a hardline stance and I know our views are pretty much irreconcilable, but I don't quite see how it's baffling.

That you'd rather see democracy dismantled and live under a dictatorship than have the opposing side win the election. I'm as left as it gets, but I can't imagine giving that up to keep the Conservatives from winning.

I saw your article. I get your concern is that this is an either-or situation (one of the reasons I'm critical of your two-party system, but I digress), but, so far as I can tell, the article is merely speaking hypothetically. It's also from a source that I recognize to be politically biased, and while that's hard to avoid these days it's important to recognize.

To my eyes, when I see you post that article and then make that claim that you'd rather live under a dictatorship ruled by Trump, it strikes me as someone searching for a way to defend his candidate's line of thinking. I see someone who's made their political beliefs, and in doing so their support of Trump, their identity. Someone who's pillars of their identity might break if they admit any wrongdoing on Trump's part, even something as egregious as this.

I'm no psychologist. I don't even pretend to be particularly intelligent. But your behavior strikes me as... cult-like.

But, I'm sure you see leftists like me as cultish as well. I know what I wrote won't be changing your mind about anything; but maybe it at least answers your question.

NY Post article has more holes than Swiss cheese in it. It's all based on a confusingly written WP article, which itself notes it's own issues.

The NY post article is acting like this is some gotcha, but the WP itself notes,

The NY Post took something, and completely distorted it. Making it seem like many of these beliefs are mainstream democratic beliefs. I could tear the NY post article apart, line by line, showing intentional removal and misappraisal of key information.

It's crazy to me how people can see Trump pull an absolute Emperor Palpatine earlier today, by essentially saying he's going to get rid of ballets and hold onto office, and be completely okay with it. Going as far as purposely calling the entire Police Brutality movement going on right now "just a bunch of rioters". Do they think these thousands of people, across 12 states, are just one giant hive mind? Everyone in the protests have their own individual end-goal, so to generalize them as "all rioters" seems to have big classist/racist undertones.

Hell even some of my close friends literally see nothing wrong with the borderline Order 66-esque, dystopian, Big Brother-type government response we've been seeing these past few months since Trump has been in office. I've never been one to play the race card, but damn there seems to be a lot of stereotypical white folks across social media trying to defend the current US Gov't.

I find it interesting how the gun-toting, tread on me and get shot, hardheaded, 2nd amendment yelling far Right folks are willing to show their bellies in a time when this country needs a wake up call more than ever. It will be kinda funny to see how these people will last, or even adapt to a tyrannical rule.

I'm not even a Leftist/Rightist, i'd say just let it all burn so we can rebuild CORRECTLY. But obviously our government will never be uprooted and replanted correctly, so we have to live with corruption for the rest of our days.
