G-FEST

Postby Cinematic Kaiju » Sun Aug 01, 2010 4:06 am

Although it is a year away, who is going to G-Fest next year in Chicago? It's going to be my very first and it might be my last for a long time so I am definitely going prepared. What is the most anyone has ever spent at a G-Fest? Who would you like to see make an appearance next year?

Plus... I'm looking for some new buddies :)

Why can't we have G-Fest in Maryland for once?

I've never gone before and I really want to go. My boyfriend and I were going to do the road trip thing and go this year, but my car broke down in June and I ended up having to spend a ton of money to fix it so I wasn't really in a position to go, lol.

we're going to try again next year so hopefully I'll see some of you guys.

I was debating whether on driving to chicago from new york or not because I know after G-fest is all said and done, i'm gonna be coming home with at least one of those huge plastic bins you can find at walmart filled with Kaiju souvenirs lol and i really dont feel comfortable mailing all of that merchandise.

I think Chicago is a great place for G-Fest, as I'm only 2 hours away. 3 hours if there's traffic.
And I have been contemplating about going next year, but I've also thought that it would be better to just wait until 2012, closer to the new movie. Everyone is going to be hyped about that.

No but it's more convenient to do so so that travel distances don't favor either coast.

Is G-Fest overrun with Anime like the rest of the cons?

I stopped going to Vulkon and Mega-Con here in FL when anime pushed comic books and other stuff out the door.

I went to G-Fest 2001 and 2002 and had a great time. I did spend tons of money though, but it was worth it!

G-Fest was never in NY. You must be thinking of Kaiju Con.

And no, you're not going to find much anime at G-Fest.

Kaiju Con! Yes! I was bugging out thinking to myself that I would've went to a G-Fest in the city. Wasnt Kaiju Con in the New Yorker hotel? I remember hitting up a convention there that was 85% Kaiju, 10% anime and 5% Japanese geek cinema.

Do you mean G-Con? Which was the original name for G-Fest. I never heard of Kaiju Con but G-Con (G-Fest) was definitely in NYC. I have the program still. It says "G-Con '97"

You know, that does ring a bell. That was what John Rocco Roberto starting calling his show after JD renamed his convention G-Fest. JD Lees has never held his version of G-Con/G-Fest in NY. Just Chicago and California.

I don't see why so many people whine it's in Chicago - frankly, aside Anime Central (I hate anime) I don't know of any other big-name cons around here.

Anyway, I always pop in to the Dealer Room and usually the Video Game Room. Don't expect to run into me - I usually come at the very end of Sunday.
