A worse place ?!? As I've heard ,and read, Ole' Hef bought a plot right next to Marilyn Monroe to be buried at. So I could think of worse.

That's was a play on a joke I heard years ago. "I hope when Hef dies, nobody is stupid enough to say 'well, he's in a better place now.'"

I can't believe he's gone. So much music I liked when he made music along with the Heartbreakers. Such a horrible day today. First the shooting in Las Vegas, and now we lost another music legend. Too much grieving in one day today it's horrible. :(

I've been out all day and maybe this is no longer the case, but while the situation doesn't sound good, Mr. Petty may still be hanging in there, as it seems CBS jumped the gun just a bit.

Well that's a relief. Whomever it was that told CBS that the life support had been pulled needs a flogging.

Yeah from what I can tell CBS covered the press conference how they did, then the LAPD later tweeted denying they said he was dead. Still just gotta wait and see.

There were reports that Petty was 'brain-dead'. If that's true, he's not gonna be on life-support for long...

( and the Grim Reaper chuckles... )

NPR reports his manager has confirmed Tom Petty died at 11:40 PM Eastern time. Damn. If there's anything uplifting here, the Heartbreakers' 40th anniversary tour ended a week ago.

Yep, brain-dead. At least they didn't keep him on life-support for long. That would've been wrong...
