Really if we lived in a world that was female dominated instead of male dominated we'd still have problems some of the same, some different. Let's face it, there's a lot of horrible things going on in the world, all thanks to our existence. Slavery still exists in the form of human trafficking, terrorists plot to kill innocent people, murderers and rapists can easily get away with their crimes with just a tiny lap in legal procedure, people suffer and die every day, starvation, disease, war, weapons of unimaginable destruction and death, and on and on.

My point is, the human race is arrogant, greedy, selfish and most importantly, self-destructive. We do these horrible things to ourselves and it could very easily led to our own demise.

Don't you just hate it when you record a let's play and for some reason the sound cuts off half way through and you can't fix it so your stuck rerecording it again? Or how about having to microwave left over food, twice, before it's warm enough to eat? Or how about when your saying something to your family and you have to repeat it cause they weren't listening? Point is I hate having to do things more then once when it should have been done on the first try and something goes wrong to screw it up and force you to do it again.

This has always been the way I see it. Humanity in general is not monstrous, nor is it perfect. Individuals all have their own nature and just because some groups decide to do something, that doesn't reflect the nature of humanity as a whole. It's interesting that you bring up that bad things make the better story as well, Hayes. I just finished writing an essay on shock and sensation in the media and that's a big part of what I focused on.

Totally concur. It's similarly annoying when you tell people about some horrible life event, or issue in another location and they only offer something like "I'll pray for you." That's it? Prayer is only useful for your own self-esteem, if you actually want to make a difference, get involved in a cause, invest time, effort and/or money into a charity or benefit. Get off facebook (or wherever you happen to be bitching about how awful the world is) and do something with your time.

Yeah, being well read makes you more knowledgeable, not smarter. There is a difference. You can cite whatever type of literature you want all day long, you can still be ignorant or just plain stupid.

When analyzing literature, and using critical thinking skills and all that fun stuff...there is the potential for literature to make you smarter.

Then you are saying that you are arrogant too since you are human like everyone else on Earth . Not all humans act bad and there is just much good things going on Earth then they are bad things. Before you say "Well you never hear about it" then the news hardly talks about it since they only tell news that people will pay to read or see. You never hear about the rebuilding of homes, schools, water resources, and employment going on in the world on the news.

I'm being serious. If this is what you truly believe then there's no way you can continue as a productive member of society being so miserable. If this is what you truly think and make no efforts to change it then you are only another burden.

I hate this entire attitude more so then anything I can think of. This is the epitome of get on my nerves.

In actuality, the human race is a beautiful thing. We've made incredible pieces of art, we have overcome some horrible times in the worlds history, we've built a civilization that will last for centuries after we're gone, we've fostered great minds that continue to influence the world to this day. When I look out my window and I see Halifax; a tiny city in comparison to many, you cannot help but marvel at the intricacies that went into its construction, the hard work of bright minds who wanted to make the world a better place for his fellow man.

I'm saddened and disgusted by people who cannot just stop and think for all the bad in the world, that there is an overwhelming amount of good in it too. Either through some horrible and crippling worldview or the more likely fashionably cynical pseudo-intellectual posturing I see everywhere.

People are beautiful and will continue to do beautiful things. Period.
