The Social Media Thread

Postby 2004Zilla » Mon Dec 17, 2018 1:02 am

Talk about social media! Do you, if you do go on social media, like to keep your posts public or private? Which site provides the best experience? Or is it just a big waste of time? If you're comfortable, feel free to share your accounts. Personally, I have a 2004Zilla affiliated Twitter account, along with some personal ones. You can follow me here!

I also use to have a Tumblr, but, uh, skreeonk Tumblr.

First! Aside from interaction with my immediate family and (to a far lesser extent) co-workers, my entire social life occurs here. I have no use for social media. Also, it's outcompeting traditional message boards like this one, so that automatically makes it The Enemy.

I have a very strong hearted for social media, and tend to avoid it as much as possible. The only time I will look at anything on Facebook or the likes, is the pages for companies like Arrow video and NECA, just to what's coming from in future.

So that's what I do and try tell people to do the same, as social media is not good for you.

I use primarily Twitter. I have an Instagram account but I barely use it. I hate Facebook so I refuse to use it.

Your mileage will vary, but not all social media experiences are bad. I literally got started doing paleontology fieldwork due to connections on Twitter, so it all depends on how you use it.

Yes, though, admittedly, it's been awhile since I've been out in the field. Being a lower division undergrad does limit a lot of your possibilities for the serious, hard-hitting paleo work, but I personally know fellow students who have published their own papers on Triassic dinosaurs. The current plan is to aim for that B.S. in geology and then go from there. :)

My whole childhood I wanted to be a palaeontologist. I grew up Alberta which is a great place for it. And then when it finally came time to applying for colleges... for some reason I went into Arts instead of Sciences and started taking History. Fast forward seven years and I’m in law school, and all I’ve ever done in my academic life is read.

BS or not, you sir are very, very cool.

Thanks! I have family up in Alberta, so when I go up there I usually try to visit Drumheller + the Royal Tyrrell Museum, which is my personal favorite museum that I've ever been to. Alberta's got some amazing geologic history preserved.

Woah no way, that’s so cool! Yeah I’ve been to the Tyrell a bunch of times, it’s an amazing place. Been a long time now though, and I think they’ve renovated a bit. I’d love to see the Ankylosaurus mummy too.

So yeah... social media...

But dinosaurs though...

I have a Twitter http://twitter.com/MattSaidThat24 which I use to follow certain content creators and voice actors I'm a fan of, as well as post random nonsense that nobody but me cares about.

I have a Facebook page too, but I only really use it to keep up with family and friends.

So, you can’t undo the past, but you can choose your own future, and if you want to be strong... you have to fight for it and find out in your life what’s worth fighting for.

You guys are right, I keep forgetting that social media is just a tool. It's just that I've seen that tool used for terrible things. Let's not forget all stupid and awful things happens in these platforms, I've relationships fall apart because of stuff people putt on Facebook.

Saying that I do have deviantart account,
https://www.deviantart.com/kingkevzilla
I putt most of art and cartoons up there and I do talk to other people, but I see it as more as like this forum than something like Facebook.

I’m pretty active on Twitter about a wide variety of things. I have Instagram but I never use it.

"Monsters are tragic beings. They are born too tall, too strong, too heavy. They are not evil by choice. That is their tragedy. They do not attack people because they want to, but because of their size and strength, mankind has no other choice but to defend himself. After several stories such as this, people end up having a kind of affection for the monsters. They end up caring about them." - Ishiro Honda

surveyrocks.com sucks big ones. They lure you in with offers of gift cards, and then, after the "survey", try to sign you up for poop you don't need. If you encounter them on the web: Run. Run Away...

Methinks the user protests too much...
