Wait a minute.... Is Doomsday going to be a main villian in a new big DC event like wiki says!? Please FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DO IT!

I think the last time Doomsday was a main villain was the Gog Wars arc.

You know what we need? A graphic novel collecting some of the tales of Krypto from the last couple of decades.

^^ Gawd no we dont.

--

Have been re-reading my JSA graphic novels, ever since I found the DC Classics Golden Age Hourman figure. It's really got me interested in Hawkman, so Im going to dig up some graphic novels tomorrow.

Not sure where I want to start. You can ignore Hawkworld (mini series and the monthly) and it doesnt mean shit. COIE retconned golden and silver age ....you could start where I am now and get the Hawkman title that was evolved into Hawkgirl then cancelled in 07 then started up during BD..

Carter Hall Hawkman vs Thor would be a good fight. Carter woudl balance Thor's epic god powers with his knowledge of almost all weapons and fighting forms..

Ha. So I started reading The Flash of two worlds of the DC Comics Library collection, and while it's a nice bit of history I do have a problem.

Now while it is a nice hardcover IT'S WAAAAAY TO skreeonk EXPENSIVE! You get six stories in it but it retails for FORTY DOLLARS! Hell, I could say go skreeonk that shit and buy that invincible ironman series by matt fraction for that same price and that has over 20 issues in it. Hell, for ten dollars more I can get the DCLC version of swamp thing and that's double the issues in that plus ten dollars more. Now I know sometimes when a golden age or silver age book gets reprint it's a bit expensive but this is overkill. Hell, I haven't seen a ripoff this bad since The TICK: The Complete Edlund book one.

DC has a habit of making their HCs cost too damn much. Marvel has started doing this as well, going for HC releases first, that are $5 more then cover of the comics and then released a softcover.

DC's collected classics and golden/silver age issues have always been high. Which is why I skip them

Yeah, thank God for my B&N membership. It took a big chunk off some of them. That's if I want to read it bad enough. Otherwise I wait for the soft cover.

QUICK DC FANS! Should I get Thy Kingdom Come parts I-III, or pick up the Checkmate trades off of Amazon?

I'm heavily considering Checkmate on account of my being interested in DCs take on the whole "Government Super Organization" that Marvel moreorless has a monopoly on with SHIELD. Also Alan Scott is the best Green Lantern.

Hmm... I never read thy kingdom yet but it's suppose to be like kingdom come I assume, so if you're a fan of that then go get it. I've never read that other one you're talking about.

I'm flying down to Texas this weekend and I'm thinking of getting some comics to read on the plane. Anyone got any suggestions? At the moment, I'm considering buying some Swamp Thing trades.

Buy all of the alan moore stuff of Swamp Thing. It's great.

^^ No, dont. Alan Moore's stuff is great, but youll want more and only 3 volumes are out.

Go for JSA TPBs. Start with Justice Be Done and go from there. They introduce you to some great old heroes.

Even though this is the DC Comics thread, this news is DC related.

Adrianne Palicki is going to play Wonder Woman in the TV pilot.

I haven't seen any of her work so I can't grade her on that but she does have the look.

So Flashpoint is going to be starting in two months and I'm hyped for this. Yes, there's 16 tie-ins to the book but the same goes for Fear itself and I'm looking forward to this the most because it's an event that isn't focused on Green Lantern. Don't get me wrong, you know I love the GL mythos however we've already got 2 major events about them and the last one is finishing up that tied in to Blackest night but seeing how the flash is getting his own event intrigues me. And seeing how it's written by Geoff Johns the guy who's been doing terrific stuff with the flash for a good while, this is going to be great.

I'm sure it will be fantastic on account Geoff Johns is a fantastic writer, but the premise isn't really hooking my interest all that much. Cyborg? Lame.

Never been overly familiar with Aquaman, though I do like his arc in Brightest Day and Johns writing a Aquaman book will most assuredly bring more interest in him.
