If there is one Y-MSF to ever get made again, it needs to be this one.

Never said it wasn't cool. Just that the odds of this actually being produced are probably pretty low.

Planetxman wrote:Yeah, but Y-MSF figures were made for collectors to be put on a shelf. Bandais were and are made for kids.
That sounds like an excuse to rationalize the poor quality and high prices.

First, we weren't talking about Y-MSF figures and cannot comment on them as I don't own any. Secondly, what is the rationale behind, say, the Bandai King Seesar's poor quality and high prices? See, I can make blanket statements as well...

BandaiBandit wrote:When Y-MSF came out, they charged $50 and a tagged Bandai was only $75. Y-MSF are nice designs but are cheaply made. The vinyl is very thin and would break if a kid played with it. Bandai are built to last, and are still around today! If kids play with Y-MSF they will not be around, only collectors pieces will last 20 years. The older companyies made them to last, the newer not so much. People remember that, and also remember collector toys like Y-MSF are cheaply made! If you don't believe me about the cheaply made, just push in on a Y-MSF belly the head will pop off!![]()
No, your blanket statement theory would not fit! Bandai was only 700 yen for the 6" figure and 1200 yen for the 8 " figure of King Caesar. Maybe you don't like the Bandai design, but it is well made/built to last!
Thin vinyl is not quality, its just cheap! You wouldn't see M1, Marusan, or X-Plus make figures that way!
Also, as far as say these toys(Y-MSF) were only made for collectors doesn't cover the fact that lot of the toys are sold to kids! Kids made up a good percentage of their market!
Go to a show and you will see this first hand! I've had parents tell me that Y-MSF were not worth it(they break) and overpriced!

Keep in mind that Y-MSF is not a major company like Bandai. It's one guy making a mold, then mass producing it to a limited number (about 1000 a piece). That's the reason why they are so expensive and why the vinyl is not high quality like Bandai.
Again, M1 and Maursan are toy companies that have hundreds of workers. Same for X-Plus. Not one guy.
Well it's the parents own fault for buying the figure if they think it's overpriced.

But I think G2K summed it up better than I did.

BandaiBandit wrote:I'll give you the Bandai theory other than the vinyl quality, F-MSF could thickin up their figures a little.
When M1 started he didn't have but just a few workers and did most of the molding himself. His toys were never poorly made! Marusan has been around, but never made thin vinyl figures.

I have been selling Godzilla toys for 25 years, and know what I'm talking about when it comes to vinyls. BTW...Kids are the larger target audience, because they are toys! Poor quality is just poor quality!

That's funny, because I squished the mid-section of my Megalon and Rodan figures, and no such thing happened.
Hmmm, I wonder why that is? It couldnt be that you're just making shit up...could it?
Naw.No, your blanket statement theory would not fit! Bandai was only 700 yen for the 6" figure and 1200 yen for the 8 " figure of King Caesar. Maybe you don't like the Bandai design, but it is well made/built to last!

So you're comparing the works of a one-man operation to the likes of M1, Bandai and X-Plus? Real fair. Also, as far as say these toys(Y-MSF) were only made for collectors doesn't cover the fact that lot of the toys are sold to kids! Kids made up a good percentage of their market!
So? There are plenty of kids that manage to pick up X-Plus and Marmit figures. I've seen plenty of kids on YT that own some. Does that make them kid's toys now?![]()
What's your point, exactly? Because you're making very little sense.Go to a show and you will see this first hand! I've had parents tell me that Y-MSF were not worth it(they break) and overpriced!
Because they're not meant for play, just for display.
Just because kids have access to them doesnt mean they're meant for them. Just look at M rated video games, or R rated movies.

My point is what it is! Y-MSF is cheaply made and generally over priced.

If the people who were there when the Y-MSF Megalon popped out want to say something they will!
Kumonga is another example of light weight figures put out by Y-MSF, its also squishy!
Making crap up is not my MO, and my customers will back my reputation! My point is what it is! Y-MSF is cheaply made and generally over priced.

I tend to agree. However I would buy The Kumonga and maybe The Gabara IF they were about 20 bucks each. You cannot defend their thin vinyl no matter what excuse you want to give.
