I love these things.

They look great and that's all ya really need.

Yeah, some are really overpriced online, and they do keep releasing the same molds, but whatev's.

I only own the Megalon (the 2nd sculpt) and it's pretty fantastic.

So yeah, I'm a fan of these things and I really dont get where all the hate comes from.

Shit like this is why the company gets hate: http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/prod ... ode=retail

and of course DAT ROCK lol

Their cost relative to their quality is a little unreasonable. If they were around $25 or $30, I think they'd catch a lot less flak. I know I wouldn't mind owning a few of them. Kinda wish I had gotten the Megalon and Kumonga when they were marked down.

It's the X-Plus Godzilla's tail in the background.

You Y-MSF guys and gals are sharp. Yes it was and is the X-Plus 67 G tip-of-the-tail. I overlooked it during the editing. The updated pic at the top of the thread has been corrected so it doesn't blend as much, and I removed the tail from the foreground.
Thanks for pointing it out! Can't get any mistake past you guys ;)

Y-MSF? THEY ROCK!

Kumonga, Manda, Varan, and Megalon... Four figures that Bandai never touched upon. All look great except Varan IMO. I like their Goji sculpts and the Goji '67 w/ Minya is awesome.

I have a couple...a painted Gabara (Not a great figure but I wanted a Gabara), a pink Gabara (won as a prize for the costume contest at G-FEST last year), a red Godzilla 1962 (nice) and the Godzilla/Minya set, which I also like. Like any line it has ups and downs....but you gotta agree the snake/octopus/rock are bullshit.

^That Megalon may not have the absolute best sculpt but IMHO the vinyl quality, eye-catching metallic paint and very reasonable price (when it was new) puts the Bandai Megalon far above the Y-MSF version. I have the original 2004 release Y-MSF Megalon and I always felt it was a flimsy, minimally painted toy that couldn't even raise it's arms. But it cost as much as a Marmit?! To this day I still don't get how that even makes sense. I've always felt that the Y-MSF Godzilla look like sculpted piles of hamburger meat that absolute pale in comparison to the Bandai Memorial Box Godzillas. By a huge longshot. And what's with the serpent and the freakin' rock??

Oh wait, this isn't a hate thread.

Well, it was cool we at least got a 1968 Manda and a Kumonga out of them.

I would argue that the Y-MSF Megalon is better than the Bandai version. Though I own do own the Bandai version because I consider it a vintage collectible.

I also think the Y-MSF Gabara is better than the Bandai and X-Plus versions. Oh wait, there aren't any Bandai or X-Plus versions :-x

Though I do agree about the snake/rocks/octopus not being worth the asking price.

I have two Y-MSF figures: the closed-mouth Megalon and the red-eyed Kumonga. They have several ups and downs.

The sculpts on these figures are excellent, rivaling if not surpassing my Bandais. I'm amazed at the level of detail and texture they have.
On the other hand, the vinyl itself is certainly inferior to Bandai's. Megalon, in particular, feels rather hollow and cheap.

The paint jobs are good, if not great. They're pretty accurate, at least, but there are some flaws. Kumonga has this slightly sandy/dirty look to him, and I can't tell whether that's intentional or just paint wear. Megalon has a couple spots of discoloration on his grey skin.

Articulation is also good. Kumonga has a joint on each leg; Megalon has joints in his shoulders, legs, tail and neck. His head doesn't turn that well, and his tail tends to bump into his wings, but it's not that big of a deal.

Overall, these two figures are pretty good; they're a little sub-par to Bandai figures, but not much. That said, the prices I've seen for Y-MSF figures like these two are ridiculous. I was fortunate to get mine in a combo sale, and ended up paying about $20-$25 for each, which still seems like a bit much (keep in mind I don't like having to pay $20+ for regular Bandais). I'm certainly interested in their '56 Rodan, and I've been curious about their Mosu-Goji, but I wouldn't pay more than $30 for them, IF that much.

I will defend Y-MSF figures to the death.

The giant snake figures look okay; they just shouldn't cost more than $10, if even that much.

The Kamacuras prototype also looks really nice, but I won't be getting it if these price levels continue.

I'm Looking forward to see what their version of King Seesar will look like, because IMO the Bandai version isn't that good and the Marmit is too goofy looking. Though I still do like the Marmit version.

This video is OLD. Gorosaurus, Gigan, and Kamacuras have yet to see the light of day. BTW, they all are much better sculpted than their Bandai counterparts. Shame

A bit unfair comparing sculpts from the early 90's to something made a couple years ago. :|
