Yes they are. And I said in my post that you're referring to, that I'll stick with BANDAI only. So yes, X-Plus is possibly the most realistic figure line out there and one of the most expensive, but even more than Marmit out of my price range which I can justify blowing on a figure - especially when it's usual prices for most of these things. Although they are more of statues than toys and I prefer toys. Moveable toys. Still, everybody, enjoy your Marmits!

I love the MH Titanosaurus....it's often overlooked and under-appreciated. It's a perfect example of how Marmit can make a great stylized figure while still managing to make a very amazing, accurate sculpt that captures the look and spirit of the monster perfectly. I think the same applies to the Megalon figure...an awesome sculpt that nails the character:

Also, the MH figure Varan is a work of art, and one of the best damn Varan figures out there, and may well be my favorite Marmit MH figure. I have both the original pink variant as well and the fantastic black gallery version.

Generally, how much do Marmits go for? My urge to buy one is reaching it's apex.

That's a tricky question. I've gotten some of the Vinyl Paradise line figures for around $30-$50. If you get lucky, you can even score Monster Heaven figures from around $60-90.

Now, what can you reasonably expect to pay for the newer Monster Heaven figures? I'd say $100-$130. I paid around $120 for my G2k that I bought from another collector. If you're in Japan... you might be able to find them new in some shops for 5000-8000 yen.

Between their excellent character selection and their beautiful sculpts Marmit's MH line is the best stylized line, IMO. Gigabrain has a few standout sculpts but overall I prefer MH. And I don't think the GB Goji figures are better than the MH ones. However the Pilot Ace G 62 and G 64 are superior to their GB and MH peers. Despite their weird double chins.

Obviously we know who has the best Ghidorah, lol.

There are some amazing MMH figures out there that have caught my interest. They've got some nice-looking Godzillas, and their Orga looks stunning. I've yet to really cross the line from "realistic" to "stylized," though some of the pics do help. Gigan's a good example of a nice middle ground for me-not overly-stylized so that it isn't really accurate, but tweaks his appearance a bit.
When I saw the Gorosaurus on the Marketplace, I instantly fell in lust. Finest looking Goro I've ever seen.

I dig the Pilot Ace figures, but I couldn't disagree with your more on this one....GB's G62 and 64 figures are amazing and must be seen in person to be truly appreciated. I wouldn't mind, however, seeing Marmit redo their G62 and 64 figures down the road...

Well the Gigabrains (G 64 and G 62) are certainly more detailed and more "realistic" than the Pilot Ace figures. However, when I judge a stylized figure I go for the ones that capture the "spirit" of the monster the best. The Pilot Ace Godzilla 1962 captures his bufoonish glee perfectly. It screams "this guy destroys shit and he loves doing it". The Gigabrain captures a somewhat more serious Goji 62 with a rather nasty snarl. The Pilot Ace Godzilla 64 has that evil stare that he had as he was about to destroy the Mothra egg.

The Marmit 64 and 62 also appeal to me more. The sharp angle of 62's upturned tail makes it truly unique among stylized G figures and once agaulin it captures the gleeful bufoonish destruction of the character. The Godzilla 64 captures the caricature if his look perfectly, IMO. It isn't as nicely detailed as the Gigabrain though.

Anyways.. this is probably a clear case of "well I don't know art, but I know what I like!". If I was building a collection of stylized figures I'd represent the Gojis with the Pilot Ace figures. The Gigan and Ghidorah would be GBs, the Anguirus, Baragon, Varan, and Titanosaurus MH... and so on.

Monster Heaven SPOTLIGHT #2: 68 ANGILAS


I think this is one of the best damn Angilas figures around...absolutely fantastic and nails the character brilliantly. It's a shame that this figure is back home in America, as I would love to take a photo of this next to my Marmit MH GFW Angilas, as well as with my MH 68 G, Gigan, GB King Ghidorah, and Marmit's G Tower for a GvsGigan re-enactment







So far, there haven't been too many variants of this figure. The most recent variant was released last year:

^ Yeah, and I agree. I like most of X-Plus' work, but I feel obligated to remind some people that Marmit (and its brethren) are perfectly capable of producing the same (or better) accuracy in a sculpt if that was what they were going for.

MARMIT MONSTER HEAVEN SPOTLIGHT #3: MANDA




This is another one of my favorites from the MH line. Released back in '06, this figure is a sight to behold, and it clocks in at nearly 14 inches in length. So far, I don't believe any variants have been released of this particular figure (if I am wrong, feel free to correct me). Marmit's outstanding work on this particular figure makes one pine for a MH showa Manda figure down the road....

I never knew about that "Real Monster Series" by Marmit until this post. This is one amazing Angirus. Neither this one nor other characters have gone into production yet, right? Any mor einfo on these, please?
