Worst Kaiju Toy Ever?

I think my original post and the responses to it illustrate pretty clearly the difference between me, the poor 18-year-old fan, and the hardcore collectors on this forum. It's just amusing that my vote was for a toy that pissed me off as a kid because I couldn't play with it and most of the replies are about toys that are horrible from a display/collection standpoint.

Does anyone have anything to add about atrocious Trendmasters build quality though? They have to had produced the single flimsiest toyline in history.

I can't fault YMS-F for the impulse buy Kong-related items (octopus, sea snake, rock) since he's just trying to extract money from hapless collectors. Sculpt-wise I also give him a semi-pass since he's just entirely a 1-man show. That being said, many garage kit makers are 1-man shows and their sculpts are absolutely beautiful so I don't give him too much of a pass.

But then you have relatively large companies like bandai america...and while on the whole i'm a proponent of what they're doing, they have some $hit sculpts. Marmit has some $hit sculpts as well

then there's stuff that is sought after and collectible despite having an atrocious sculpt. Shogun warriors godzilla, i'm talking to you.

I actually like many of the Y-MSF sculpts, and am thankful us fans have access to get many of these figures, but it just seems a shame that the octopus, snake and rock were made. Hopefully the criticism of the Y-MSF won't deter the individual that's making them, rather provide him with a measure or barometer for his standards.

well if you mean from playability and what not...then I wouldn't know.
as a kid there were zero godzilla toys available except the the wonderful selection of godzilla and...godzilla from imperial. i had to draft/conscript some transformers toys to double as mechagodzilla and king ghidorah

i honestly think if i were 6 to 8 years old when trendmasters came out...i wouldn't really complain about them at all. except for teh $hit ghidorah sculpts.

I have a few of the 5" TM figures: Godzilla, Gigan, Mechagodzilla, Mothra, Rodan, and Mecha-King Ghidorah. I also have the smaller Goji & Mothra figures.
I've had pretty much all of these figures for over a decade. The only ones that haven't survived were Rodan, King Ghidorah, and Battra. I don't remember what was wrong with Ghidorah, but Rodan's wings are pretty flimsy. Battra, I think was broken from the start.

Otherwise, however, these figures have held up nicely.

Y-MSF can do a fine job on actual monsters, a lot of their newer work is impressive, and it's great for a one-man show. But Oadako, the rock and the snake were pretty meh.

The Marusan ''Giant Gorilla'' is an okay mold by vintage standards, but why the hell is he blue?!

The Marusan Gomora is actually pretty good. I like it better than the original Bandai Gomora.

I looked at the picture and for a second I thought you said it was one of the worst toys, and Im like "its not THAT bad" then I actually read the post and Im like "..oh".

Still, that Gomora DOES look pretty neat. And yea that Minya figure is hideous. I think stylized figures are neat and all, but that thing is the exception.

Some quick ones off the top of my head:

• Bandai's orginal 8 inch Gigan and Hedorah - Ugh ...not even nostalgia can save these things.
• Any Bandai creations stuff - It's as if they're trying to create crappy sculpts.
• Shogun Warriors Godzilla - again, spare me the nostalgia defense...this thing has *always* been, to quote Arnold from Predator, "one ugly mother f*cker."
• Trendmaster's King Ceaser...er...I mean Baragon - Didn't know Baragon worked out on the bench press so much.
• Trendmaster's 10 inch Ghidorah w/ sound - looked like a midget next to the rest of monsters when he should have towered over all of them, and the webbing on the horns of his face...just awful.
• X-plus 30 inch showa MechaGodzilla - looks like he's doing the splits and looks completely ridiculous. Their 30 inch Gigan is also close behind this...just subpar stuff in general for figures whose main selling points are their supposed "realistic accuracy" and cost an arm and a leg. I probably could (and should) list several other overrated X-plus figures on here as well...

Im sorry but not all BC's are crap. Their Mothra Leo is superior to the Bandai Japan stuff (I know, I have all the ROM stuffs)

I can vouch for BC's Mothra Leo too; it's very good. Their Final Wars figures aren't great, but they aren't terrible either.

Raibow Mothra is a nicer figure than its Japanese counterpart, and I don't see how anyone can suggest otherwise.

Also, the 6" Gigan and MechaGodzilla, and the 12" Kiryu and FW Gigan were all very well done in my opinion. Especially considering that even the twelve-inchers retailed for around $25.

BC has made some great figures. Rainbow Mothra, FW Gigan looks good, G2K has a great sculpt, Destoroyah is fantastic, some like the KG, the Mechagodzila isn't half bad except for the arms always being stretched out, FW Goji isn't terrible, and I'm sure there are one or two more not mentioned by me.
