I know people are getting excited about these covers....but lest we forget that KOM also had great covers by these same artists. KOM proved that great covers do *NOT* equal a good comic. I am still very skeptical of this particular title....to be honest, I am *FAR* more interested/intrigued in the next mini-series Godzilla: Half-Century War coming out later this year...it takes a rather interesting, fresh approach by following Godzilla over several generations (so tired of certain individuals across fandom with their "you guys are just afraid of change" arguments they love to fall back on whenever someone rips the plot/story ideas of these IDW books...sorry, but who the F**k is afraid of change or new ideas? The only things we're worried about are *BAD, SH#TTY* comics) instead of trying to continue the ridiculous KOM storyline with a silly "bounty hunter"( ) angle...

When it comes to a turd of a comic like KOM and knowing the new title is a sequel to it, there's not much to smile about...

I can understand your skepticism, Ebirahsmeg1. Personally, I just try to be optimistic.

I had a thought recently; although Matt Frank has sounded very positive about the new series, I don't really remember him saying much about KOM. That might be worth considering.

They've already said a million times that this has no similarities to KOM except monsters have appeared.

The thing is here is that when this comic was first introduced and we were gonna get all the monsters, We all figured it was gonna be on par with the Dark Horse one

^ I can see see that. Too high of expectations, generally. Can't blame them. But not everything is going to be Dark Horse all over again (and by DH, I mean the first few issues, lol).

The Dark Horse series was so awesome...it seems these creators had never read them.

I'd like to them do a 46-pager, it might intresting...
Before it can be filmed, drawn, acted or programed, it must be written.

I can only hope that the new comic will be up to your standards, ebirahsmeg - I've read the first issue and I enjoyed it quite a bit. All I can encourage is for you to give it a chance.

So what? That doesn't matter, because irregardless of having no similarities or not, it is still connected to the same storyline, events, and time line of the awful KOM story arc. No matter how different it is, it will always be tied to KOM,and its god-awful origins will always be there consciously or subconsciously in the background (i.e 1. the terribly re-written origin for Godzilla, 2. KG has already appeared in his p*ssified GMK form and as a result, this most likely eliminates any chance we will see the true evil space demon KG in this series, and 3. even if they're never mentioned again, the likes of President Obama and Lady Gaga/Jersey Shore will always exist in this time line like a brown sh*t stain that won't go awayImage I could go on and on...these are just but a few examples). Very unwise move on IDW's part as they should have just started fresh and cut all ties to KOM...instead, KOM will always be there like a cloud over the new title's head. To make matters even more problematic, we are now suppose to accept the premise that mythical kaiju beasts, which the armies/militaries of whole countries cannot stop, can now suddenly be subdued by mere bounty hunters.....sorry, but even for a Godzilla comic, that's *really* stretching it when it comes to suspending disbelief. We shall see though...

Hey, as I've said Frank, I will give it a chance. But after KOM, please understand that I and many fans are not giving any more free passes and will not rush out to buy this title until it proves it's worth the investment. "Fool me once, shame on you, but fool me twice...", well, you know how that old saying goes. I love both your and Zornow's work on these covers....but the bottom line is that you two aren't working on what's between the covers, and that's where the main problems have been with the main series. What's funny is that some fans have remarked that my "standards are too high"...puhlease. At this point, I would be happy if the main series was *on par* with the old Dark Horse G series...I wouldn't exactly consider that "unrealistically high expectations."

IDW has done a great job with their mini-series (I have said all along that G: Legends or stories similar to G&G should be the main series instead of KOM and Godzilla), but unfortunately, they have almost always made wrong choices at every turn when it comes to their main series. IDW screwed up big time with KOM, and they deserve all the scrutiny they get from here on out until they prove otherwise (and I sincerely hope they prove me wrong...nothing would make me happier :godzilla: ).

Good lord. You are off the deep end. I seriously don't know how to reply to this other than to say... I don't know what to say.
I can't make a comparison to anything at all.

Like, shit.

Actually bother to learn what will be carried over from KoM (hint: IT'S SKREEONK NOTHING!), then reformulate your speculative idea.

Hot damn.

I, for one, want them to stay AS FAR away from the Dark Horse series as possible. That series had just as many flaws as KOM and got far goofier and campier than anything in KOM. Can't get down with a bounty hunter going after Godzilla but ALIEN bounty hunters...eh, okay?

I dunno, how the hell does John McClane stop terrorists when nobody else can? How is Indiana Jones able to outsmart the entire Nazi army? And seriously, how the hell did King Kong climb all the way up the Empire State Building? Those're *really* stretching it when it comes to suspending disbelief...

It's never been stated the bounty hunters do shack jit to the monsters, anyway.

Or familiarize yourself with the creator's previous work. Duane's got a hell of a track record and can spin some amazing plots.

Let me get this straight...having reservations and concern about a series from the same company that brought us KOM is going off the "deep end" in your eyes (you know, the same guy who thinks Gigabrain's KG sucks because it has a little silver on it)? Sorry, but not all of us fans have the "everything Godzilla is good" tinted glasses on and will accept any pile of crap handed to us just because the name "Godzilla" is stamped on it. That's great you and others have already decided this will be a good comic without even reading it (Many made the same mistake prior to KOM's release...but hey, everything Godzilla is good, right? ). Others like myself, however, have very legitimate concerns about the direction of this new title and will take a wait and see approach....

Wow, very thoughtful, insightful post there...damn.....like shit man....haterz gonna hate...woah man. With insight like this, I bet you could give Eric Powell and Marsh a run for their money.

Heard the exact same thing in regards to Eric Powell and the Goon prior to KOM's release. Amazing how history repeats itself and the broken record just keeps playing, isn't it?

As I said, I might end up being proven wrong (and I hope I am...like everyone else, all I want a good G comic, and I think Bobby Curnow is sincere in trying to make things right), but I will not hesitate to speak my mind when I have concerns about this title, no matter how much it may ruffle some people's feathers on here (boo hoo)...

*YAWN* Broken records, m'iright?

And I still like KOM, so quit speaking for "all the fans" when you write these diatribes. That's really, really misleading, annoying, and does nothing to back your argument. It just shows you're stuck on being "above all that", which, clearly, you aren't.

EDIT: Protip; calling something a "shit-stain" is, uh, flame-baiting...don't be shocked that some people take offense to that kind of BS hard-line attitude.

Quote me where I said the Gigabrain KG sucks. I dare you.

I never said this was going to be good. Again, quote me. You can't. I don't have any glasses on (shit, I do ;-;) in regards to the fandom and what we get. Everything Godzilla is not necessarily good.

You're condemning something you have ONLY seen the covers for and very BRIEF descriptions of some of the issues. Yes, you are going off the deep end.

Capt Aktion, I think I am rather rational and reserved, whereas you (and a few others) often come off like an emo, over-emotional HS student and always makes things personal (and that there is the epitome of a broken record). You really need to stop getting so over-emotional and grow thicker skin when people don't hold the same view points as you. That is the last time I am addressing you in any topic and am adding you to ignore as your antics have grown tiresome (not taking your flamebait).

I hope you and others enjoy the new comic....I will take the wait and see approach before praising it...
