I'm fairly certain he's just imitating the curve in the lower jaw of Angy's later Showa suit:

Which is pretty cool in my book, by the way.

Except Zornow has Drawn Angy so that his upper jaw is curving UP as well.

Nevertheless, it's very good piece of artwork.

Secondly, Zornow's monsters seem to have elastic skulls. When an animal opens its mouth, it's jaws do not actually bend or bow or become convex. They, of course, remain straight.

Not to be that guy, but I'm thinking of snakes and sharks, at least, off the top of my head who might disagree with you there...

Snakes can unhinge their jaws in order to accommodate food which would be to large to swallow otherwise, and sharks are cartilaginous so that their "bones" are literally flexible. I don't think that Anguirus has either dislocatable jaws or cartilage for his skeleton. In any case, for me, the bowing of the jaws adds to an impression of cartoonishness. The scale and that nitpick(?) are my only complaints, though.

I know people are getting excited about these covers....but lest we forget that KOM also had great covers by these same artists. KOM proved that great covers do *NOT* equal a good comic. I am still very skeptical of this particular title....to be honest, I am *FAR* more interested/intrigued in the next mini-series Godzilla: Half-Century War coming out later this year...it takes a rather interesting, fresh approach by following Godzilla over several generations (so tired of certain individuals across fandom with their "you guys are just afraid of change" arguments they love to fall back on whenever someone rips the plot/story ideas of these IDW books...sorry, but who the F**k is afraid of change or new ideas? The only things we're worried about are *BAD, SH#TTY* comics) instead of trying to continue the ridiculous KOM storyline with a silly "bounty hunter"(:roll: ) angle...

I can understand your skepticism, Ebirahsmeg1. Personally, I just try to be optimistic.

I had a thought recently; although Matt Frank has sounded very positive about the new series, I don't really remember him saying much about KOM. That might be worth considering.
