^ That is some good info to hear on. I also feel happy that Art was able to have free reign on the pic. I dunno why, but it makes me warm inside. ;) Definitely looking forward to this series.

Its most likely because I think back when KOM was starting out, fans had high expectations and thought the comic was going to be amazing. But then after KOM issue 4, fans pretty much dropped the series and had loads of negativity to voice about it. (Then again, when you invest money into something you can complain about anything really)

I think JVM is thinking that the same is going to happen with this reboot series, that it will turn out bad. (Even though it looks like most of the major mistakes dealing around KOM seem non-existent in GODZILLA, but time will time after maybe three or four issues.)

JVM was negative on KOM before it came out.

Anyways, I'm cautiously optimistic about the comic. I hope it actually delivers a cohesive story, and hey could be fun.

Even if it turns out bad, who really cares? It'll just be another bad Godzilla comic. IDW will probably release other mini-series that'll provide better alternatives.

I never read KoM, but expectations were through the roof. When I suggested it would probably disappoint everyone, I was basically told "Eric Powell has a perfect track record, so there's no way this can fail with him on board" - and what do you know, a year later, everyone hates KoM except a handful of people.

This comic will be the same way, as will each succeeding one.

You have a point, but... that's a bit pessimistic, isn't it?

Yep! :D I'm extremely pessimistic.

I'm not going to be reading the comics regardless, since the local comic shop closed down, and if I track down anything, I'll go for Legends, which I down #1 of, but I'm open to whatever they're about.

I hate to say it, but I tend to agree with him. The storyline itself sounds rather silly (if they militaries and whole armies of countries can't stop these beasts, then to suggest that a group of "bounty hunters" can is *REALLY* stretching it...not to mention that the thought of mere bounty hunters being able to take any of these beasts down themselves sort of degrades/cheapens the monsters themselves).

Also, after the mind-blowing ineptitude of KOM and massive fan backlash to that god awful storyline, they have nevertheless still decided to have this story *connected* with that same time line/story arc??? :? My question is.....WHY???? :freak: X_X This is a *BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD* move. There is no need whatsoever to have any connection to that awful story line, as they could have easily started this new title fresh without tying it to KOM. I don't care if they say "well, even though it's a sequel to KOM, the events of KOM will barely be mentioned, and this story will be totally different, so don't worry!"....this is still an extremely stupid move.

However, I sincerely hope I am proven wrong, and if the reviews are positive, I might reconsider and pick some issues up (I'm all for second chances, and IDW's mini-series prove that there is *potential* to make a good ongoing regular series). But after the debacle of a trainwreck that was KOM (Powell/Marsh/Dos Santos should be banned from ever working on a G comic again), I will never fully trust IDW's main series.

On the other hand, their mini series have been excellent (Why the hell can't G: Legends be the main series instead of KOM and this upcoming bounty hunter fiasco???? :?: :( )

Oh, and IDW, one more thing.....PUT THE REAL KING GHIDORAH IN THESE COMICS!!!!   You know, Godzilla's #1 arch rival and most powerful foe? He has yet to make an appearance in *any* of this comics (except for his foot in G: Legends #1  )....totally inexcusable. NO MORE GMK Ghidorah!!!!

I believe Toho's making them use the GMK design.

You do realize that's Toho's call, not IDW's, right? It's been stated time and again that the versions of the monsters we're seeing are the only one's Toho approves for use. I want a 64 or 84 Goji in the books but that ain't going to happen until Toho laxes up on some of their rules. Don't blame IDW for the things Toho does.

EDIT: You swooped in before me Tyler.

Or at least Toho is more preferred to use their more modern designs.

Jeff Zornow has mentioned on here and shows examples on his blog of how he drew the Showa Ghidorah on the cover of an issue and Toho, not IDW had him re-draw it into the GMK design. It isn't my preferred version either, but take it up with Toho; it belongs to them and they say it's the one they want used.

Bobby Curnow has insisted that they have *no* restrictions by TOHO on which incarnations of kaiju they use (he "claims" that TOHO only made Zornow change it because GMK Ghidorah was featured in the main story). To be frank, I'm not sure I'm buying his "we have free reign to use whatever versions of the monsters we want" shtick....especially considering this is TOHO we're talking about. Otherwise, the fact that G's arch enemy and most powerful foe has not appeared *once* in these comics in a major role is beyond absurd (it's like having a Batman series w/o the Joker ever appearing sans for cameo appearances)....
