I guess he's supposed to be part of the "Real Master Collection EX" line for X-Plus. Not the 30cm Toho line. So he's probably bigger? I hope? Otherwise what's the point of the raised price?

I really like Kiryu, so I'm not opposed to dropping that kind of money on a badass figure of him. But I need to know why the high price. I like have big figures, but I wish he was scaled with the 30cm line or something. Damn all these different X-Plus lines.

EDIT - Looks like his backpack is an internet exclusive. F that. And he's 34cm tall, so like just hardly over 13". So why the high price tag? I'd like to have this figure, but there's no point in getting him unless I get the internet exclusive, which will even be more expensive. And I just don't see it being worth that price unless they start tossing some metal on him or something.

It looks like it's in scale with the 2003 Godzilla they put out. But yea, why is it soooo expensive!? Unless it's simply because they consider it super-detailed compared to other releases. And yes, the back-pack is a Ric-Boy exclusive. It also comes with "blade weapons" I believe. I'll likely order it through the X-Plus website but ouch! I was expecting this kind of price tag for King Ghidorah, not Kiryu. :(

Is the high price simply because he's a resin figure instead of vinyl.

Are they moving to resin again I wonder? Why resin on this one and not vinyl?

They always use heavier materials for kiryu. In their statue line, kiryu was heavy solid resin, instead of polystone like the rest. That put the cost of kiryu over king ghidorah.

Oh, wow! I didn't even know they did a Kiryu statue!! I thought the only monsters besides Godzilla were: Anguirus, Mothra, King Ghidorah, and Rodan.

Maybe they'll follow with a vinyl release like they did with the Gargantuas. I think their first release was resin, not vinyl.

How did you end up ordering yours? I know there's a guide out there for ordering the exclusives but just curious how you went about it.

If this is all resin that's pretty cool. I thought I read something about soft vinyl in the google translation though? Unless they were saying that's just how they initially sculpted it. And will this come pre-assembled/painted or no? Usually they have the finished paintjob up by now.

And I don't think X-Plus ever did a Kiryu before? Unless you have pictures? Not familiar with it.

Hi DK,

I ordered it directly from X-Plus off of their website. I'm registered with them and so just logged on and ordered. I'll wait to see if the painted pics are put up and if not, before the order deadline, I'll cancel it. I don't have the expertise (or patience) to build and paint something. lol

They didn't release it here in the US. Probably why you're not familiar. Their statue line in japan was teleased under Unifive

A 30cm 1989 Godzilla has been announced on X-Plus' "Coming Soon" page.

Also, Hobby Search (and others I'm sure) have started taking pre-orders for Kiryu. Note: The multi-barrel gun "back pack" is a Rick Boy exclusive. It must be ordered from the X-Plus website.

Hmm. Normally I'm not gun shy about 30cm figures. And Kiryu is one of the better designs...but I think I'm gonna shy away from this.

Brad, do you have the 30cm 2003? You've got to display them side by side!

I've ordered Kiryu (and I know what you mean regarding the price). The only Godzilla I own is king-gogi ('54). However, there is a side-by-side picture with sos-gogi on X-Plus' blog. It's also on the X-Plus Facebook group I created.

FYI - It definitely looks like they're going to assemble/paint Kiryu. The "button" graphic on X-Plus' home page looks like a work in progress, which has been updated from the primer finish.

The Kiryu pics look fantastic so far. I'm sure it'll look great when it's finished. I have the SOS G but haven't decided on whether or not I'll be buying his nemesis.

Please tell me the gun pack isn't going to be blue like that. Is that how it looked in the movie, I actually haven't seen SOS I'm embarrassed to say.

It was blue in the movie. But it looked better. This blue looks a little too toy-ish.

And how did you order off the X-Plus site, do you live in Japan? I can't find out where it would accept any international orders.

Oh boy... I'm not fond of that blue. It's fugly. :(

I live in the U.S. You can actually order from X-Plus but they won't ship internationally, so you have to use a 3rd party shipping service (for a fee of course) if you don't know someone who lives in Japan and can help you. I've used JapanToDoor.com in the past but I'm having trouble with them this time (broken links and forms and can't get anyone to reply), so I'm going to use Tenso.com. Tenso's process looks a little easier anyway. With JapanToDoor and Tenso you're issued an "address" in Japan that you use when buying from online vendors who won't ship out of the country. The 3rd party receives the package and for a fee forwards it to you. I would recommend registering with the X-Plus website too, which I am. It's easy now to order from them since all my shipping and payment information is stored with them on my profile.

Well for the second or third time I am EXTREMELY tempted to go for an X-Plus exclusive. Finished Kiryu looks awesome with the barrel gun and wrist masers, but I have always had a soft spot for the High-Mobility-type as well. WIll it be worth the extra cash? Hobby Search has HMT Kiryu at just under 400 unshipped, while exclusive sounds like it will be 530 from X-Plus before shipping and 3rd party fees...

Brad we know which way you are going...anyone else want to chime in and help me choose? Heck, since the add-ons aren't removable, this is one I'd consider getting two of if it wasn't for the price...

I always liked the look of the Gx MG MechaG more but the color of the pack and wrist masers always looks off to me, to bright and garish. If they had been silver too it might have been an improvement. Still, this is my favorite version of MG and it's a great figure. Too expensive and big for me to pick up though.
