I'm getting the itch to see the Mothra they teased us within on their Twitter account. More pics please!! :)

The black hole alien marks a low point in the Godzilla universe. Decades leading up to it, many low budget sci-fi movies relied on readily available gorilla costumes to afordably achieve their needs in casting aliens. Yes gorrila suits and masks were used to portay aliens. So, in the 70's when the big fella was on a decline, it was only a matter of time before we saw one. Still, I like it and may hunt down the exclusive, as it's significant for this reason.

I always thought it was more of a Planet of the Apes thing, rather than a cost-cutting thing. I mean, those suits/costumes were probably as expensive as anything worn by "aliens" in Godzilla movies in the 1960s (i.e. Ghidorah, Monster Zero, Destroy All Monsters, etc).

Kiryu??? Didn't expect that at all.
Is that their first Millennium series monster?

I'm surprised there isn't a X-Plus Blackmoth, I'm even more surprised there isn't a single Blackmoth figure in exsistance!

No one gives a damn about Blackmoth, I bet he feels just like Baragon when they left his name out of the title in GMK.....

Sadly, must resist...

http://www.ric-toy.ne.jp/item_rmc_ex_kiryu.html

My wallet could use some time to recover from Biollante, G '54, MG (both sizes), Manda, etc., so I'm passing on both of these. I like Mothra '64 more than the original, and I have a large Kiryu already (the UniFive resin figure.) But this Kiryu in particular looks impressive, so I'm glad everyone who wants one and has more cash to spare than I do, can get him.

Wow, I thought she would be going for more. I would grab her right away if I didn't own the resin Mothra imago. As it stands now, I like that one better than the vinyl, so I'll probably skip it unless some crazy deal drops in my lap in the future.

X-Plus probably won't see a lot more of my money for a while after buying Biollante, regardless.

I'm really trying to get out of X-Plus stuff. Getting rid of all my X-Plus except for Biollante since she's a beast and the coolest figure I've ever seen of her.

But there's an appeal to just having a giant Mothra. 1961 isn't even my favorite version of her. And really I like Kiryu more as a monster. But there's so many different Kiryu figures out there. A giant Mothra would just look nice on a shelf among smaller figures. So I think I might jump it. I figure worst case, if I don't like it, I can sell it later and make my money back since X-Plus' hold their value.

The 61 Mothra is a nice looking figure. I preordered mine from Hobby Search this morning, so I don't think I'll look for the exclusive light-up eyes version. I don't remember when Mothra's eyes lit up in the debut movie? Maybe in the ReBith series?

Drunken, if your getting out of X-Plus you know you'll have no problem selling if you decide to. :-)

Yeah I know. Light-up eyes would be awesome, but eh. Don't want to spend the extra money for that feature. Probably not worth it.

The light up stuff is cool but there are other more natural fits. Such as a mechagodzilla with light up eyes, or Godzilla with light up fins.

Here is an opportunity for another thread or new poll for us.
What X-Plus exclusive would you like to see?
- 64 Mothra w/Twin Faries
- 93 Mechagodzilla w/Garuda
- 93 Godzilla w/baby Godzilla
- 65 King Ghidorah w/ the Controller of Planet X (or one of their flying saucers)
Etc..

Then again we can always buy the Marmits for their pack-ins.

Guys.

Monster Planet Toys just sent out a 5% off coupon for a few of their X-Plus figures up for pre order. Don't know if you can still get one, but might want to join their mailing list.

They CAN be a tad expensive, but they're great to work with and usually respond quickly with their responses.

Personally, I like the exclusives that have an extra head / patch / set of arms that customizes the actual figure a bit, rather than those out-of-scale extras like a human figure or whatever.

Other than customizations, some figures/exclusives I would like to see include:
-74 Godzilla with removable arm patch revealing a metal underneath (i.e. the "fake" Godzilla / MechaGodzilla)
-62 King Kong with boulder
-Any Godzilla with light-up fins
-Daimajin with light up eyes (not Toho, I know)
-74 Angilas with bloodied mouth

I decided to go for the Mothra exclusive this time. I dig the light-up eyes, so pre-ordered mine through X-Plus direct. I think this is the first time I've ever gone after an internet exclusive. All the others I was interested in came out before I started collecting. Would like to eventually get the JJ w/extra hands and the Hedorah w/eye patch intrigues me.
