Re: New wave of Godzilla Bandai USA/Creations figures?

Post by ZillaMaster91 »

I stopped caring much for Bandai Creations' six inch figure line long ago... pretty much after the first wave of figures back in 2002. Even the Fusion figures don't do it for me either...

Personally I enjoy the Tokyo Vinyl figures. I found them, perhaps, the more unique items to be introduced by Bandai USA. My only nitpick is the fact that MechaGodzilla is smaller than Godzilla.

Does anyone know if the paint app is better on this wave's G2K figure yet or no?

Not out yet, I believe.
I'll make them appear with my burning desire.

Nah, I'll be looking for Fusion Gigan and Mechagodzilla then. My slight interest in the Tokyo Vinyls has cooled off I think, so I'll probably pass there.

Holy Crap, Jomei actually made the Mothra's appear with burning desire apparently.

That is beyond impressive.

Anyway, I like the Tokyo Vinyls-and apparently I'm alone in liking the Godzilla more than the MechaG. I'm also looking forward to the 54 G.

I have all three of this wave's standard 6". Only have the Fusion MechaG because it was all I could find at first. I've since located the Gigan and Godzilla locally and I might pick up the Fusion Gigan - I like the bright green.

The Fusion Godzilla 68 is the only one I really have no love for.

Ive seen Fusion Mecha-G and Godzilla 68 at Toys 'R Us and they're pretty meh. I may eventually pick up 2 and repaint one with movie accurate colors. I have yet to see Fusion Gigan and Rainbow Mothra in person tho.

Man i was stupid not to pick up the standard version of MG when he came out

Getting the Fusion Rainbow Mothra the next time I see it. It looks pretty damn cool!
Fusion Burning Godzilla looks...ugh. I WAS going to get the Fusion figure, but that was when it was at the Toyfair. This new Fusion paint job looks ugly IMO. Might get a Fusion G2K though.

BTW,I heard that the kaiju that will be released with G54 in the Tokyo Vinyl line was G2K. Can anyone confirm this?

Unless it's just a place holder for the image, looks like we're just getting a reissue of the first wave's Godzilla.

^Doesn't the G54 Tokyo Vinyl look a little like Wreck-it Ralph?
I was mentioned in the SciFi Japan article about the appearence of extras on the Godzilla vs. Megalon DVD.

Let me know when you see them at TRU up there. I usually hit the one in Davenport and always seem to have good luck there.

Wait, what's the difference between them and the SD ones that came out a few months ago along with MechaGodzilla? They look the same to me.

I agree. These are the first licensed American Godzilla products that I have NO interest whatsoever in supporting (well and the plushies just because I can't find those anywhere...and I am not buying the repaints if you want to count those to). I would much rather see Bandai Creation concentrate on giving us some brand new molds/monsters of their original line. But since everything I always think is crap is inevitably embraced by the masses (while things I believe that should be praised are typically overlooked and underappreciated), this line will probably become their new standard line and the more logical figures will be phased out when they run out of ideas/excuses for repackaging the same damn things over and over again.

On a related note, I saw a few people saying that K-Mart was (supposedly) stocking BC Godzilla figures again but I went to my dad's local K-Mart store over the weekend and it was still just as "Godzillaless" as it has been for 3 years now.

?? The Tokyo Vinyls are brand new molds, not 'repackaging for the same damn things over and over again'.

Or would you be referring to the Fusion line?

Yea, I am referring to everything Bandai Creation has released after Wave 5 which included "First Godzilla", "Mechagodzilla '74" and the 12 inch "FW Gigan". Everything since then has been a complete and utter waste of time and effort. Wave 5 was disappointing enough because it only contained 2 new molds of the smaller figures, but at least they mixed some new in with the old. Next thing we know, BC is going to start releasing solid blue Destoroyahs and solid pink Godzilla 1968s once the "Fusion" line ends so they will have an excuse to keep pumping out the same exact molds. I was a hardcore supporter of Bandai Creation for the longest time and would get so mad/frustrated at fellow "fans" who refused to support the line when they was still giving us new figures. But now Bandai Creation are officially skreeonking me off to and if they are only going to keep making new "Tokyo Vinyls" molds and nothing else, then I am definitely done with buying their products.

Don't understand your hatred towards Tokyo Vinyl. They are nice, unique figures.

They just aren't for me. They look overly ugly, cartoony, distorted and are a perverted/corrupted and overexaggerated vision of something that I love. Plus I almost feel like Bandai Creation is saying "Let us try to show you how absurd/silly Godzilla really is through the visual aid metaphor of these goofy looking figures so you can hopefully see for yourself how childish Godzilla is." I wouldn't be so flustered about it if Bandai Creation was still giving us new, normal looking figures in addition so us fans could choose which figures we wanted to buy. But right now I feel like they are completely replacing the once pleasing figures with these inferior things and it most certainly is not an "even trade-off" in my eyes.

I think this quotation really summarizes the issue best.
I used to be a lot more optimistic and outgoing, believe it or not. I used to actually be passionate about this stuff.
