I have the Doom Island Megalon. The colors are wacky, but I love it all the same. I'm still on the hunt for Baragon and Varan, be it the Godzilla Wars or Doom Island variants.
I will explain slowly why you are wrong.

Does anyone know why exactly Trendmasters figures are so expensive now? I realize that they're quite old but the prices they fetch these days seem outrageous given how common they were. Merchandise for 1998 film can cost up to 20 times the original store price, which doesn't seem to be the case for most other toys from movies of that time period. I distinctly remember there being shelves and shelves and shelves of this stuff everywhere you looked, so I know they weren't rare or anything.

Demand. More fans want them now. Collectors willing to sell them jack the prices up.

Anyway, I'm making it a 2015 goal to get all of the Trendmasters Gamera figures. Looking forward to that shelf.
The normal Godzilla toys I can see, but it's strange to me that there's such a demand for Godzilla 1998 toys. I had a tornado blast Zilla as a kid and it seems to be lost now, and I'd love to replace it, but it goes for upwards of $150 online. I didn't think anyone liked that movie enough to pay so much for figures from it.

There wasn't many production runs of the Godzilla 1998 toys. They sat on shelves, meaning why make more when no one wants them? So, there's actually not that many around now for the secondary market. Some of the rarest ones seem to be the Tornado Blast 6" figure and the Supreme Godzilla figure.

I guess that makes sense then. I always assumed that because there were so many of these toys in stores for so long that there was a high demand for them and they were just doing a good job of keeping them in stock. It never occurred to me that they were the exact same toys warming the shelves for all those months.

A Taiwanese seller on Ebay has em quite often. About 40 bucks for standard, but the electronic ones are much more expensive. Bought Varan from him earlier this year. They're the Doom Island variants with the black wash. He's got several Baragons in stock right now for 45 bucks/free shipping.

I'm trying to get a hold of more of those micro-playsets, but all the ones I've found are ludicrously priced or are missing parts. I also want to get more of those large-scale figures. The only ones I have are Godzilla, Gigan and Spacegodzilla.

HEAVY Trendmasters score over the last few weeks.

I had the Godzilla Wars anniversary repaint set. And that was it.

Since then I have accqiured
-Power Up supercharged Godzilla (MiB, complete with trading card)
-3 inch Godzilla (loose)
-6 inch Rodan (loose, but box included, complete with trading card. Still works.)
-6 inch Mothra (loose, but box included, complete with trading card. Still works.)
-6 inch Ghidorah (loose, but box included, complete with trading card. Still works.)
-10 inch roaring Godzilla (loose. Still works.)
-10 inch roaring Mothra (loose, but box included. Still works.)
-Godzilla vs Mothra 3 inch set (MiB, never opened. Complete with trading card)
-1998 Claw Slashing Baby Godzilla (loose)
-1998 "Battle Damaged" Baby Godzilla (loose, missing removable piece)

My Trendmasters collection is growing nicely!

Just got a nice bundle of Trendmaster figures. Got the 5 inch Godzilla (roaring function still works ^-^) and Mecha-Ghidorah, along with a bendy Godzilla and a 10 inch Godzilla.
Well, that's certainly a thing.

I actually have a pretty decent Trendmasters collection myself. Unfortunately my 6" Rodan and 10" Space Godzilla are both messed up. Rodan's wing is falling off and Space Godzilla's tail is broke. I also have the whole Gamera set except Gamera himself.

I have to say, my favorite from the Trendmasters line is Varan. It screams 90's and could very well have been a Heisei version of Varan. Just adore the damn thing, I was so happy when I finally managed to snag him. Packaging included.
