It's not like I could afford an Ultra Act anyway (though it would be cool).

Does anyone else have this figure?

Nope. I've got Goldras and Super Hipportio, but not Pandon, Gesura or Silvergon.

I've got the Pandon and Gesura. Both are amazing, with the top prize in my book going to Gesura. Pandon is still great though.

And I agree with Legion, don't wait for an Ultra Act figure that will probably never come. Pick up the Bandai (though it's probably going to be expensive). Lately the King Pandons have run 15-30 bucks on ebay...not too long ago it was over 50 for a Pandon figure. Gesura is even more expensive if you're going the ebay route.

On the other hand, he could be saying "I don't want to own multiple versions of this kaiju - I'll save my money until I find a version that I like." It might be a money issue. It might be a space issue. Or it might be a decision to limit the size of the collection. I don't see a need to spend money on every sculpt, and I definitely refuse to "go backwards" and buy the latest version if the sculpt is markedly inferior in accuracy to a prior version. And when something comes out that is a marked improvement over previous efforts (the X-Plus G89 has me drooling enough to consider dumping my Bandai closed-mouth and Toho Eiga versions), I'll make room by selling older/inferior versions.

Unfortunately I don't see any Gesuras on ebay right now. The only two King Pandons I see on ebay right now are a tagless version from HK for $16 and one from anaininet for $118!!!

G1985, I'm pretty sure the King Pandon vinyl from the "8 Ultra Brothers" movie line is probably going to be the only version of this guy we're going to ever see. If you want this incarnation of Pandon, this is the toy to get. You don't know how often I see people say, "The vinyl is cool, but I'll hold out for an Ultra Act version". When it comes to the monsters, that's never going to happen.

@ G1985-

But it's one figure of a kaiju, and a particular version of that kaiju, that's not likely to see another version in figure form so I think Legion's advice was actually very sound. For instance, someone holding out for another figure of an Ultraman Max Gomora is sniffing crazy glue. It's not going to happen. Sure, there will be more Gomora figures, but Ultraman kaiju figures tend to be made in two ways...either new figures of the original suits, or figures of the newest suit. One a kaiju's tv series or film has drifted into the past it's very, very rare for Bandai or anyone else to make another figure of it. How many new Ultraman Powered figures have there been?

Legion, just saw your post. I agree. And Pandon wise...I bought mine tagless I'm afraid, didn't feel like spending that much for the tagged version. Usually I buy the tagged unless it's a case like that where the prices are so extreme. I do really think you'll like both of the figures if you can find them. I know you are winding down your Ultra collection but if you're going to have any version of Pandon or Gesura I'd say these are the way to go.

Thing is they're not really a priority. I have the original '90s figures of Gesura and Re-Pandon as well as the 2000 series regular Pandon. Newer monsters - and major revamps of older monster - just don't interest me as much as getting figures of the Showa era guys. My collection is primarily Ultra Q through Ultraman Great, with a few newer monsters thrown in for flavor (and usually those come in lots along with older figures I want. I ended up with Deathfacer, Donlon, Chaos Darkness, Geranda, Gatanozoa and Chaos Header just because they were in lots with mint tagged versions of the EX Ultra Fight and Ultraman 80 Baltans, 2000 Gudis and 2000 Gamaira.)

That's cool man and I understand because I'm doing the same thing more or less lol (Ultra Q- Ultraseven...most of my emphasis though is on Ultra Q and the original Ultraman...just the kaiju though, I don't have a single Ultraman figure lol).

I like those versions of the old showa kaiju, but it all comes down to personal taste. (as a matter of fact....most of my collection is Showa era stuff now that you mention it. I love Gamera, but I really only collect the Showa era because in my mind THAT IS GAMERA and the Kaneko films are great, but not Gamera films so much (G2 and G3 in particular)).

The reason I ask is because the figure is up on eBay for $16.

I am very limited in what I can buy, so my question is: is this figure worth it?

I'd say yes. My favorite Pandon figure.

Well that's really cheap for the figure that's been out of print for a little while, and shipping is free. If you don't care about the tag go for it.

Yeah, don't count on it.

Not even trying to be mean, but when you say, "I'll wait for this monster to appear in the Act line before I buy it" you might as well be saying "I don't want this monster at all".

It just never ends, does it?

"I'll wait for an Ultra-Act version" seems to be a disturbingly common phrase lately.

New Zetton released, wait for Ultra-Act.

Looking for a Pandon, wait for Ultra-Act.

Sell my old figures, then, wait for Ultra-Act.

You know what? Everyone, get rid of your Ultramonster vinyls and wait for the Acts. Sell them all the me. I'm sure Bandai will release them all in Act form eventually...

Hey, let me get the ones you already have!

...not like they'll be worth anything once the Ultra-Act versions come out anyway. Speaking of which, how about cutting me a deal on a few of your memorial box Gojis? They may seem cool now, but wait until MonsterArts gets around to the Showa era--you won't be able to give them away then! :P Just hogging up MonsterArts' shelf space.

C'mon. What'a you care anyway? More vinyls to go around for you, right?

There's this whole thing that I would love to explain at one point about how there IS a newer group of toy collectors who actually DO prize things like articulation in their figures. When I was a kid, it was Spider-Man. Who wants a Spider-Man with 4 points of articulation when you can have a full-poseable one? I'm not saying what you like is lesser or what they like is better.

Generation gaps, man. Newer generations may look for different things than the older, but neither makes one a "better" or "smarter" collector.

For all you know, 20 years from now the MA figures could be very, very sought after figures, that since they hit mass market, actually have fewer "complete and intact" copies, regardless of how many they've made.

You never know...

I don't think anyone's saying that more Ultra Act kaiju would be undesirable--just that we shouldn't count our chickens and sell/skip on buying our vinyls, so to speak.
