I'm STILL searching for a copy of the Illustrated Encyclopedia of Godzilla by Ed Godziszewski. Anybody want to sell theirs or know where to find one? This has been my Moby Dick for years now. The couple of times it's been sold, I didn't know of until they were gone. I mean, I haven't even ever seen any scans from this book and it's killing me; I must know what is inside, haha! Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys!

You mean the Bandai one? Yeah, I do...and trust me, you're not missing much. It doesn't even scale correctly with the other 8-9 inch Bandai figures. This is one figure I would like to see Marmit or Xplus take a crack at sometime...

$183 "Buy It Now" for MH Orga...that's hilarious. I got it for 5000yen ($60).

This, ladies and gentlemen, is everyone's favorite Singaporean seller "what_a_day", a prime example of sellers/dealers who are ruining ebay. This clown is notorious for his extreme overpricing of Marmit figures (If memory serves me correct, I believe he was the dealer awhile back who was charging over $500 for the Marmit MH Large Biollante figure  ). Over at the CT forums, his ebay auctions are regularly referenced in the "When Ebay sellers still think its 1998" thread. Go here to check out some of his doozies from this past holiday season:

I wonder if anyone has been stupid enough to buy figures from him...

Oh sweet! Where?

It's not a matter of being stupid. Marmits are notoriously difficult to get ahold of in the U.S. We often have to pay marked up prices from the assholes who are all too aware of this fact. Look at Clawmark Toys' Marmit selection. Do I want the King Goji? Sure, but I'm not paying over $100 for it. Just like I wouldn't buy the Marmit Orga from that ebay seller. But the question remains: Where else can I get one?

There's no denying the fact that these are marked up considerably when sold outside of Japan stateside (Trust me, I've bought my fair share of Marmit figures stateside before I moved to Japan several years ago), and if you want to get into the "Marmit MH" collecting biz, then you have to pay to play (sorry, but there's no getting around this...it's all part of being a collector).

However, there's a difference between "marking up" and "you've got to be f**king kidding me" lunacy, and the ladder is what have with sellers like what_a_day. And yes, anyone who does buy from him (her?) is a moron.

Either that or the money is no object. To some people $183 dollars doesn't break the bank. Hell there are people around here who will pay thousands for a vintage Bullmark fgure. Do you have a better place than ebay to get Marmits?

Yeah, I was literally bitching about him in the previous page of this thread. The guy overprices every goddamn thing he sells. People do buy his stuff though, he's got the feedback to prove it. So we can't really expect him to be more reasonable if there are folks willing to pay those outrageous sums.

Its a really nice looking Bandai, I was impressed with it. If you're interested I'll probably list all four of these on the marketplace.

^Depending on the price I may pick it up in the coming weeks. I have to watch the expenses now, I'm running out of old games to sell that I no longer need. :o

I'm still waiting for the day someone lists a Kaiser Ghidorah or Monster X, I would buy those in a heartbeat. :D

Well, if I see either on Ebay for a decent price, I'll PM you a link. Most of the time though, I see them in a listing with several other figures, so you might get something extra if you bid on it and win. One question. What would you say is a fair price (of what you can afford) you would pay for either?

^Well usually there like about $100 each, so I guess about half of that, $50. Like I see the Bandai Legion always going for about $86, but I won an auction for $36. So I'd say $50 for both is reasonable. Of course, if I ever see either going for $60, I may have to squeeze in the extra $10.

Alright, I'll keep an eye out for them. I HAVE seen some cheap items sold on Ebay. For example, I had gotten the original G-03 King Ghidorah for less than $30 and you barley see it under $40-$50. A long while back, I got the JP Allosaurus figure for a measly $13. When I find them, I'll tell you. But if I see one at the Con I am going to next year, it is mine. :P

^Thanks man. So far the lowest for each currently is $95. I'm sure another auction will pop up. I really need to go to one of these cons. :D

The Con I went to was an Anime convention, and I found a table full of Godzilla, Ultraman, etc. goods, so I helped myself to the Godzilla items. I really lucked out that year as there usually are only one or two Godzilla items there.

Anyways, I've been looking for a Godzilla 2K figure on Ebay for $30-$40. I've seen alot of them go by, but I've never won one once.

No, I meant the Bandai Japan Godzilla 2K. I bought the BC version when I saw it in TRU for the 1st time.

Even people who are well off most likely won't buy from a rip-off artist like what_a_day.

Yes, I do live in Japan, which gives me a huge advantage over stateside collectors when it comes to collecting...no denying that. However, before I moved to Japan, I used to get my marmits (and figures in general) from a variety of sources, not just rip-off artists on ebay. There's the dealer from Clubtokyo who's really good (check out the market place), several online dealers (and sorry to burst your bubble, but you will have to pay more than $100 from time to time for marmits...there's just no getting around that...this hobby ain't cheap), fellow collectors online, and *gasp* other ebay dealers (believe it or not, but not all ebay dealers are deadbeats like some of the Singaporean sellers on there now...make connections with one, and in turn they will introduce you to other collectors they know, and so on, and so on...it's called networking). They're not going to just appear magically in front of your face....you have to look around and research, make connections, and so on; all of which may take some time, but soon you'll have a network established and can hunt down these figures with ease...and definitely cheaper than what_a_day. Also, patience is a virtue (ex: The Gigabrain G64 and G62 figures, two of my favorite figures in my collection, took me *years* to hunt down...even in Japan. But I remained patient and never splurged on overpriced ebay auctions...)
