Should I do it? I can't tell if it legit or not, does the 2000 Megaguirus have a bootleg problem?

Yes. High Grades are AWESOME figures. I own a ton, including this one.

Actually, he's right. One time I was watching a Mechagodzilla with the Godzilla skin on ebay, so I waited for the last few minutes to bid on it, but sure enough, it was well over $50, which is over my current buget. Anyway, I found some more items some of you might like.

I have one question though about this toy-

Does anyone know anything about this? I was wondering if this was a bootleg or not.
Also Kaiju No Mura, a couple pages ago, you said those Godzilla and Mothra statues were recasts. Do you have any advice to distinguish the difference between a recast and the real deal?

What would make you think this is a bootleg? It's a legit toy. Released during Tsuburaya's 100th birthday in 2001.

Well, to be honest, I didn't have any idea this figure even existed, but the clear figures usually catch a higher price so I just wanted to ask before I bought one of these to know what someonelse thought. Thank you for answering that question for me Legion1979! I might just purchase one of these. Out of all of the clear Godzilla figures, which are real eye openers, this one just really stood out and I was wondering about it.

Ebayer sellers from China, Taiwan, Phillipines, and Mexico should bring up a red flag. The 3 asian countries I mention have easier access to purchase authentic kits to bootleg and can attend the major kit shows in Japan like Wonder Festival. That's why you see alot from those countries offering kits for sale, not just kaiju but also alot of anime figures. Next is to basically look at the prices and quantity they have in stock. If the quantity is more than 1 than that should bring up a red flag. If the prices are low around $100 and below for a unpainted kit that should bring up another red flag. Original kits are very limited to production runs, so them having like 2-5 in stock is impossible. Also original resin kits are very expensive around $200-$400. Also the seller not providing the name of the kit maker is fishy. Or sellers sending you the kit pieces in zip lock bags with a plain box is another way to know it's bootleg. Also being familar with alot of the actual kit makers out there and knowing what they have produced is helpful.

If in doubt just ask a board member here on TK to identify the auction.

Thanks for the tip! Unfortunately for me, I purchased a dinosaur kit ago that met with several of those conditions- it was from Mexico, it was $35, it came in a plastic bag, and there was no name of the kit maker. Well thanks for telling me. I have seen TONS of models and kits on ebay, and after you brought up those recasts, I was curious to know. It's rather ironic that the first model kit I ever got was actually a bootleg that met with five of the conditions that would make it most likely a bootleg. I really don't like bootlegs of anything. Even if I'm buying shark teeth, I go for an authentic item and not a cheap plastic replica.

Oh, okay I see what you mean. Sorry about that. Well, good luck bidding! Oh, one tip for bidding on Ebay that's ALWAYS effective- before you confirm your final bid wait until somewhere around 20 seconds to confirm your bid. It leaves less time for the other bidders to to place theirs and over bid you. Just be wary of one thing, this had happened to me once. One time I was bidding on a Godzilla figure, I waited to the last second to confirm- but then, the internet connection stopped working,(at my grandma's house she has AT&T which stops working every ten seconds) and my winning bid was lost because of that horrid connection.

I also experienced this once and nearly went berserk. The good thing was that I later got the same figure for way less than I'd have payed back then! :o

Do the 1999 Marmit Kumonga's have a bootleg track record? I don't know how much they go for but I found, what I would assume, is a really good deal ($9.99+$6 shipping). I might have to pass up the 2001 Ghidorah cause this Marmit looks really nice.

Also what about the 2001 "rare" color Baragon? It's being auctioned for the same price.

I think I know wich auctions you mean. The opening price is always low but don't expect it to stay cheap. Its just honey to lure the bees (us  ).
I tried to score multiple items during two auctioning-waves from this seller and the last few minutes felt like a war.

I only got a small flying pose King Ghidorah yet (bid on at least 20 items). ;)

If it's actually this seller then I can say he's thrustworthy.

No one has ever bootlegged Marmit's figures as far as I know.

People worry too much.

I think it's better to have people bootleg paranoid than people who just buy them anyway and don't care.

I wonder what happened to the G64 and G74 bootlegs. Disappeared as suddenly as they appeared.

I'd assume they just sold all of them they had produced or (wghat I'd personally prefer) Toho or Bandai got them at their balls ~

I think those are actually curry flavored, not cheese. That makes them even MORE awesome, though.
