I don't even think he meant it that way. He was critisizing what I said. Not trying to start a fight.

Boy, I've been on this forum longer than you've been able to type, probably. And I am a moderate, so if you attack me again, I will give you two warnings. One for disrespecting a moderator and one for going against heightened rules during a crackdown.

You dig?

RedZillaKing wrote:The Toho monsters have taken a backseat to the Marvel heroes in the Sci Fi Revoltech line. Coming into a Toho fan forum, some negativity should be expected regarding the recently announced Spiderman. I wasn't implying some long standing blood fued between Toho and Marve, lol.

I understand some disappointment with Revoltech lessening their production of monster toys. I can't get angry, though. You must realize that the monster market is smaller than the superhero market. Especially in Japan. Alien, Marvel, and whatnot will sell faster and hotter than kaiju.

Its the way markets move. It is Revoltech SCIFI and not Revoltech MONSTER, after all.

If I'm correct, elder adults do not response in that type of manner. Even when dealing with someone who had taken a much lighter yet mildly serious way in dealing with you. Especially when they are 45 and should have more proper years of home training.

^Manda.... come on, man.

@SS4G- I was explaining why there was superhero hatred. That is all. And it is the only reason people are complaining. I'm well aware that everything is more popular than giant monsters. Even sewing.

Supply and Demand dictates that we can't sometimes. This is one of those times.

Godzilla or anything related to godzilla would. Other monsters maybe not just depends.

There are reasons why there hasn't been a Godzilla movie in the last couple of years. They simply don't produce enough income.

Now think for a second about how much money The Avengers has already made...

I have a difficult time admitting this. But I agree. I think that maybe a large part of this is that the other half, women, relate to the human element more than ugly monsters.

^It's funny. I don't have any issue owning up to this: Yes, in fact, a property that I hold near and dear to my heart and that I know others feel passionately about IS NOT necessarily a money generating effort.

It is a fact, and not even a sad fact, that people have to make a living. You don't do whatever it is that you (any you, non-specific here) do well for free. Nobody does. If you do, you aren't taking care of yourself. I know, I know, it's so much easier for many of us to think of "big business" as an Evil-Empire that us, as educated connoisseurs of such products feel a need to rally against, but that isn't always the case.

I feel the same as most everyone here probably does; I would like to see more Toho characters and fewer characters I can find/buy anywhere. Totally, I agree. But what I want isn't exactly what keeps hundreds of people employed, and as long as the company maintains the level of quality that I've found from them, I can't help but appreciate the work they do, even if I don't buy them. Nothing wrong with that.

And who knows? If the line grows, the company becomes stronger...Maybe we'll get more of what we want out of it in the long-run. There's no reason to hate on them for doing what is, frankly, in their best interest. Especially as Kaiyodo seems intent on cracking the American market, which only Bandai has really done in the past...

Thats due to the fact that they havent been making good quality films. Transformers, which probably isnt the best example but still, are practically giant monster/disaster films and they do really well

Start making quality new Godzilla films with good special effects and good stories and boom

Actually, your Transformers example goes against you. Those three movies are poor, poor examples of good filmography. However, the second one became one of the highest grossing films in history. Why is this? There's a myriad of reasons.

Giant monster films, however, don't do the things that Transformers did (part of it is the spfx eye-candy. Japanese suitamation is not spfx eye-candy. Del Toro, however, is suitamation spfx eye-candy.).

But, I can guarantee you this: if giant monsters did what Transformers did, The Dark Knight did, or the Avengers did...it would be a better selling genre.

Actually, it was the third one. I might be wrong, but whatever.

Yes, I am incorrect. Transformers 3 is the highest grossing. Excuse my fault, I had not followed the press around those films since the 2nd (But did see the third).

What does this mean? Japanese "suitmation" absolutely IS eye-candy.
