Kaiyodo sure cares. It is a little sad though, from their perspective :(

Kaiyodo, without the possibility of acquiring a Godzilla license, has lost all interest in producing Toho monster related products.

Well this is truly awful. I have a feeling their business plan simply failed before they fully implement it. I, too, was hoping a SHOWA VARAN as well. Well, at we got the Gashapon figure....

I get the impression that Kaiyodo wanted to do a bunch of Godzilla related products on the condition that the big man himself could be done. Nothing about failing their business plan beyond that. Of course Kaiyodo ditching the Toho kaiju means we might never get SA versions of Maguma, the Gargantuas, Matango, the Yog trio, etc.

Which is pretty sad. Though I still hate the line.

It's a great line with some fantastic sculpts and character choices, but I would rather have SH take a stab at more Showa designs so that we get 6" scale and better overall quality. (Revoltechs are too small IMO and I've heard of them breaking more often than MonsterArts).

Aside from Gigan (whose thigh joints throw the whole thing off IMO) the sculpts were nothing short of amazing. But then, sculpting was never the issue with Kaiyodo.

Which is why I have no interest in SHMA versions of the ones Kaiyodo did. Gigan is the only one who looks a little small next to the SHMAs. Anguirus, Rodan, Baragon, Mothra, Moguera, are perfectly fine size-wise next to the SHMAs. I HOPE that SHMA eventually moves into Showa & gives us the characters Revoltech didn't get to.

Revoltech Rodan came in the mail yesterday (pics in "What toy?" thread soon).

I am absolutely in love with him. I owned two revoltechs already - Showa Moguera and the Maser Cannon. Those are both cool but the Rodan has totally sold me on Revoltech. I'm already scouting Baragon, Mothra, Gyaos, Gamera, and Anguirus in large part because of how impressed I am with Rodan.

In fact, it's probably my second favorite figure I own next to my SHMA Godzilla.

And to that point, I agree with Manda - I was actually rather concerned about how Revoltechs and SHMA would measure up, probably more than most as my main intent with the figures is making movies. Moguera is a little small next to Godzilla, so I know Gigan would be, but I think Rodan is about a perfect fit. He's actually a little bigger than SHMA Rodan.

So likewise I imagine the other figures I mentioned wanting (except for Gamera) will be okay in scale as well.

As much as I like the Gamera stuff, I can't vouch for it being anywhere near in-scale with SHMA. The closest is the Classic Gamera/Gyaos. The Heisei stuff is WAY out of scale.

Yeah, the Showa Gyaos is the one I want the most. I know Gamera is way out of scale with SHMA but he's too cool to pass up. That's probably all the Gamera I'll get.

Thankfully, if you're getting these figures to make stop motion films, there are all kinds of scaling tricks that can be used to make the sizes seem comparable (figures closer to the camera, green screening, forced perspective, etc.)

As far as having Revoltech Gamera next to the monsterarts figures sure he's a bit small but I would actually expect that from these figures Gamera is always the smaller under dog in the fight and Godzilla is just a big force. I like these sizes to be truthful. the only issues I run into is say the size of Legion I would have liked him more in scale with the monsterarts I would love to see a monsterarts version of him and other Gamera characters later on but for now the Revoltechs are still pretty cool.

Love the pics, GvsG. That first with Gamera cowering is hilarious, it has stuck with me from the other thread as reference. Good tips, Plexton. The movie I'm currently working on features SHMA Goji vs Revol Moguera - I've been working on the scaled character positioning and perspective. I think the Rodan and Gyaos will fit without any work. Baragon is the one I'm worried might be too small (and I know gigan has to be)

The Revoltech figures look awesome, but the size keeps me from spending too much on them. All I have right now is the Maser Cannon. One day I'll start collecting these things, but for now, I'm spending enough money on the Monsterarts. I'll only get the Gamera figures if they make Gamera '99, Iris, and Hyper Gyaos.

Yeah, Gamera is WAY out of scale. Surprisingly, though, Gyaos is almost SPOT on with the SHMA figures, only off by a small decimal of an inch. However, I believe her wingspan is either slightly too small or large; I'd have to run the numbers again.

Now, Legion... Let's not even begin.

Baragon is supposed to be about 25 meters, I believe... So take that as you will. I think he scales fine with the SHMA figures, as does Rodan and Anguirus.

BTW, RZK, you really shouldn't keep posting that blurb by Godzilla 165. It is incorrect & potentially dangerous. I know martial arts weapons. I know reptiles, incl. crocodiles. You ever seen what an angry bull can do to a human being? Okay, now think of a Saltwater Croc, like they have in Africa/Asia/Australia. These reptiles can take down, all by themselves, a water buffalo or wildebeest, the equivalent of that same angry bull that can stomp the life out of a person. No one in their right mind would go up against such an animal with nothing more than a bladed weapon, unless they had no choice - and even then, my money is on the croc. Shows like "Gator Boys" may give some people the wrong idea. The Gator Boys capture American Alligators - which are peewee pussies compared to Saltwater Crocs.

Please take that quote down.

Manda... If there are people out there who see 165's quote in my signature and go "Hey! That sounds like a great idea!" .... And then fly to Africa, Australia, or America and actually attempt it...

Well ain't that just Natural Selection?
